ssh no longer working

Just discovered that a box's install of ssh has been
broken for a couple months and the main user just
decided not to use ssh on that machine instead of
letting me know. So, when you try to ssh in or out of
the box, you get nothing. sshd is running, and the ssh
executable looks to be the same one I installed when I
reinstalled last. As far as I can tell, no settings
have been changed. And ssh no longer works. Any ideas?
Besides reinstalling ssh? I'm running Solaris 8. If
reinstall is the answer, is there anything I should
know before proceding w/ it? Thanks.
Tim

I need to set 8 bit character support in ssh terminal
emulation (vt100) on our Solaris 8 server.
But I have no idea, how could I do that.

Could you help me please what should I set?

Thanks in advance!

DNS version

Is there anyway to know,
what version of BIND that target server is running?
Please don't doubt me, I'm not bad guy.
I just want to verify my team doesn't do anything wrong.

Thanks,
Pat.

Re: DNS version

Nessus would give you this information, though the reported version is not
necessarily the version actually running...

http://cgi.nessus.org/plugins/dump.php3?id=10028

"It is possible to determine the version and type of a name daemon
by querying the CHAOS TXT record 'version.bind',
on BIND based named (unless configured to act otherwise),
the server will respond with the BIND version.

Solution :
Using the 'version' directive in the 'options' section will block
the 'version.bind' query, but it will not log such attempts."

Will.

Quick script

Hi gurus,

I'm sorry to ask this question, but I don't have the time to investigate
this myself. I'm looking for a quick script that'll find files older than 30
days in one directory. The script doesn't need to recurse through any
subdirectories, just the one that is supplied as an argument.

If anyone has the scripting know-how, your help is always appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: ssh no longer working

Do you see anything in the logs? Could there be password aging issues?
There are a number of things that can go wrong.

RE: [SOLUTION]Quick script

Sorry for the confusion, I actually meant files not modified in the last 30
days. I actually needed to run this command to remove log files in an
archive directory we have for one of our applications. We had log files from
October of last year until last night, so I wanted to "purge" all of the log
files older than 30 days. The command I used was:

#find . ! -mtime -30 | /usr/bin/xargs rm -rf

Thanks for all the quick responses, this list is Da Bomb !!

Exceed/CDE & .profile

does anyone know how to check if a user is logging into the box
from EXCEED? I have a custom script for the developers which
has to sourced as it contains many environment variables and a
few functions. If I source this from their .profile and they
log in from EXCEED, then EXCEED will exit. I figure I can check
there method of login I can code accordingly, but I still haven't
come to an understanding as to why EXCEED doesn't like the exports
and function definitions.

Is there a way to connect these two boxes so that;
(1) both sides of the disk array are available,
(2) but each half is connected to a different I/O board, and
(3) if one I/O board fails the other, second I/O board, can keep the disk
array fully functional and available?

Thanks,
