Are you using OSS drivers? The problem might be specific to OSS's
emulated SADA mixer, which is incomplete.

BTW, install-discuss is not the right list for this (it is for issues
concerning the Caiman installer and related software), you probably want
desktop-discuss.

Wow this is great Russell. Got it working with Build 89 of Neveda
as a host and Indiana as the guest with nwam turned off. Everything
seems to work except on my host system when I try to login or
use any other service like nfs/ssh etc etc it resolves back to
the host system. All other systems on the network work resolving
the name and services to the VirtualBox guest work.

In fact going the other direction from the Guest I can resolve all
names and services, all *but* the host_ip. I'm I missing something
obvious about routing with the host/guest? In otherwords should

Sun xVM VirtualBox

I wrote too early about this 1.6.0 version..
What happened to the seamlessmode (Host+L)
In the beta all worked very nicely. Now the option is grayed out.
I use the Guest Editions 1.6.0r30421 for windows XP

Solaris 5/08 upgrade / install fails

I tried to upgrade a Supermicro based system with Adaptec AIC-7902 U320 onboard
SCSI controller from Solaris x86 8/07 to 5/08.
Because this failed when rebooting, I tried a new install,
but this failed with the same error.
Reinstallation of Solaris x86 8/07 worked without any problem.
I tried the upgrade on another test system, same behavior.

The boot failure with Solaris x86 5/08 is the following:

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Re: Tuntap, tunctl and brdgadm for Solaris 10 5/08 AMD64

Hi Bob,

When using Tap, access to the host computer from the virtual computer fails.
This was something I was warned about. It may work if you configure
a spare network connection on your host to act as the connection for Tap.

Re: Solaris 5/08 upgrade / install fails

Hi,

I have experienced this problem with Adaptec Controllers before
which is why I tried to avoid them.
If the hardware configuration has not changed between installing
Solaris 10 8/07 and attempting to install Solaris 10 5/08.
Can you enter the Adaptec Bios setup and scan the SCSI bus
for disks without error? It is not a termination issue?
What PCI, PCI-e or PCI-X cards do you have installed?
Previously I have found that re-arranging cards can eliminate the problem.

Yeah I just realized that after reading some of the docs on
http://www.whiteboard.ne.jp/~admin2/tuntap/ site. Still
I have several systems on the local net and can do some
useful work with the bridge from other systems to the virtual machine.

I just couldn't stand using the NAT interface.
