pdf viewer in Solaris 10 5/08

Hi,

Was tidying up my computer and removing many of the old SFW applications
from /opt/sfw.
When I started Launch -> Applications -> Graphics -> PDF Document Viewer
it started Adobe Acrobat 4
which I assumed that I had changed to point to my old Acrobat4 binary
from 2000 but no it listed
/usr/bin/pdflaunch which reported itself as the same version as my old
Adobe version

U20 M2 and LSI22320SLE question

Hi,

We got a U20 M2 box with an external tape DAT72
SCSI. The box is running Solaris 10U5 and has an internal HBA
LSI 22320SLE.

The machine does not boot if I have the SCSI controller
installed locking the entire box.
The last message visible on screen is:

"LSI Logic Corp. MPT boot ROM, no supported devices found"

I have tried several things without much success:

 - update U20's BIOS to latest version
 - configure the controller via CTRL-C during boot
 - the BIOS version of the controller: MPTBIOS-5.07.03

If I swap this card with an old
PCI Adaptec 39160 everything is fine. Anyone any
ideas what should I try or have experience with
this LSI card !?

Thanks,
Stefan

Sun does not have the sources to any version of Acrobat, cannot compile
any version of Acrobat, and only passes through the Acrobat binaries
that Adobe provides.

adding another/new system disk

I can use some help.

I have bought another harddisk.
I want to make this my new system drive *with* LU.
So what I'll have to do is:
-format/fdisk the enw drive
-partition it
-move the old s10u3 system with dump/restore
-create the bootblocks (?)
-install the new LU package from s10u5 (?)
-change places with the old/new drive
-boot the system from teh new drive

Is this procedure correct? Am I missing something?
I guess I'll have to read about LU if I'm to use that in upgrading the
system to s10u5 ;-) Any best reading points?

I thought the two were very much seperated. I'm not in the habit of
multi-posting, so excuse me ;-)

You'll see Adobe Reader 8.1.2 for the Solaris 9/10 SPARC platforms.
You'll want to talk to Adobe about Solaris x86 support for the latest
Adobe Reader release (which has been in continual discussion for over
nine years now).

Not correct.

Simply create a Solaris partition on the new drive and create your various
slices. Choose which slice you want to host the new bootable version of
Solaris and do an lucreate (I use lu for this) on it. That will do the copy
of the OS for you. Doing the luactivate of the new ABE will set up the grub
menu and the boot blocks.

Be sure to use init 6 to reboot.

If you try and use lu, be sure to do it from either a text console or a
dtterm window. It does not work in the Gnome terminal window.

When I do that what will happen to my (sparse) zones (web/mail/user
server) which now are on /export/home/zones?
Somebody told me they're duplicated when upgrading the system, but
where do they go to? Do the duplicates remain in the same slice as
the originals? I may sound to careful, but I don't want to loose my
system ;-)

Yes I read about that. Init 6 or shutdown and NO others :)

Thanks for your info.

I have not used Zones, so I can't speak to that. I keep everything in / and
make my /export slice common to all boot environments. I would think your
zones would "just work" using the common environment, but am interested in
hearing if that is not true.
