Hi John,

I'm trying to tell SOLARIS to use my new canon MP610 printer. I compiled
and installed gutenprint, but the solaris printmgr obviously does not
use it. Do you know how to tell it to use gutenprint-ijs instead of the
"old" drivers ?

Thanks

Marc

tap, tun, brdgadm and VirtualBox?

Has anyone managed to get host interface networking working with S10 and
VirtualBox?

I'm using the tap/tun and brdg drivers from
http://www.whiteboard.ne.jp/~admin2/tuntap/ with VirtualBox v1.5.51
without much luck.

Anyone got this working?

Frank

I'm using tun/tap between a solaris box at home, connected through pppoe
to an adsl modem, and the solaris box under my desk in my office. It
works fine: I use company addresses at home through this. I do not know
virtual box. What is your problem ?

If you can get Ghostscript to use your IJS, then you can create
a filter to spew Canon's print control language.

I did that years ago under Solaris 8 IIRC.

I guess it depends on whether or not vbox supports Tun/Tap on Solaris
or not. I helped with getting it working in QEMU on Solaris, and there is some
information about how to set it up for QEMU on the Opensolaris QEMU
project page.

HP Color LaserJet

Can I get some help settin up a HP Color Laserjet 1600?
I pulled the foo2hpjs package that included a PPD file.
I added it to the foomatic dir and updated the ppdcache.
I see it and can choose it in the printmgr.
However, unable to print. Any Help greatly appreciated.
TIA

Try some of the other Color Laserjet PPDs.

I would try PPDs for model numbers < 1600, but its a just a wild shot.
The 1600 may not be compatible with other Color Laserjets.

Does the latest Solaris Express include foo2hpjs?

The Keyspan USA-19HS usb->serial adapter is supported in Solaris 10+.

Does anyone have a HOWTO or a url on how to get started using one of
these? FYI, I am on a Sun Ultra 20 m2 with Solaris 10u4.

TIA,
