Re: Will the Solaris OS run on your x86 system? Click to find out.

As to the "File Transfer Failed" error, following steps might be a solution to resolve it:

(1) Open a terminal and run the following command:
    # javaws
And then a window of "Java Application Cache Reviewer" will display.

(2) Choose the menu "Edit" -> "Preferences..."
And then a window of "Java Control Panel" will display.

(3) Select the first page ("General" page) of the control panel, and click the "Network Settings..."
button in the middle of it.
And then a window of "Network Settings" will display.

(4) Select the "Use proxy server" item, and input corresponding address and port information below this
item.
(If you don't need proxy, then please just select the "Direct Connection" Item.)

And then click "OK" button of this window.

(5) Click "OK" button of "Java Control Panel", and then close the "Java Application Cache Reviewer".

(6) Run Sun Device Detection Tool again.

And then this tool is expected to display a report finally. Please try it!

Sure. The wiki was a long shot anyway! :)

OpenSolaris Day at Tech Days Korea

hi ...

I'll be in Seoul next week for Sun's Tech Days conference. As with all
the Tech Days events, OpenSolaris will have an "OpenSolaris Day"
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/marketing/events/techdays/seoul/
So, if you are in the area, stop by. It would be great to meet. Also,
there is a new Korean OpenSolaris User Group forming there:

I would agree. Some of those critical servers 24x7x365 could be backup
servers trying to wake up the hunderds of Solaris desktops sold
in big contracts for backups at night. Maybe sales can't sell big contracts
because the option isn't there? I hope the sales options don't recommend
buying the competitors clients.

Cool. I'd love to see the site in Russian. :)

Hi ... The site infrastructure will stay as it is for these portals and
will be managed from a technical perspective just as the main site is.
Each portal group, however, will have to build a little community around
their own translation efforts. They and their leaders will determine who
does the actual translations, who gets access, etc since they are the
closest to their given areas. The foundation for that is really already
set up within the globalization community. We'll need to flush some of
this out when the project is formed. Much work to do, but the framework
is already established. I'll be continuing these conversations on the
i18n discuss list.

Sorry, I don't have wiki to offer. But I hope you get involved anyway.
Having the site in multiple language could change the dynamic of the
community significantly as we engage more people.

Excellent! I sort of expected that China would be a big part of this
project. Welcome! You guys are leaving everyone in the dust with your
OpenSolaris university program, so having a Chinese opensolaris.org
should only help. Cool ....

Project Tamarack - are there any news?

I am trying to find out about the current state of this project. However, it seems to be some kind of a black
box. Can someone please enlighten me.

The project was putback into Solaris Nevada build 51 and should
be available shortly (without all of the appropriate GNOME support
as of yet, but this will be rectified over the next couple of
builds)
