a quick internet query suggests these are for the sunblade 1000.

USB drive in Sun Blade 100 / 150

List,

Checked FAQ (only one found seemed to be 2000 and before),
what I want to find is whether USB drives commonly available for PC and Mac
will work / be able to format as UFS or a format Solaris 9 / 10 recognizes.
Also if there are recommended USB hard drives / thumb drives for use with
Sun Blades 100 / 150 .

Thanks!

I've used a USB drive on a Sun Blade 1000, so I'd say "yes" for USB drives and
thumb drives, but they are not bootable - data only.

I have used ATA drives in USB enclosures (specifically I/O Magic
enclosures) on Ultra 60's and an Ultra 20. For the Ultra 60's I used
a Belkin fsu 220 USB card, using Solaris 10 11/06. On the Ultra 20
I am running Solaris Express Developer Edition 9/07, on which support
for USB drives is much better. In both cases ZFS was used. I have
not formatted a USB drive for UFS but have no problem reading UFS
file systems on USB disks. The I/O Magic boxes use a Prolific
Technology ATA to USB interface and work quite well for ATA disks,
and acceptably for a Plextor 750a DVD writer. Have no experience
with commonly available "USB Drives", but I see no reason they would not
work on Solaris 10. No experience with Solaris 9 either in this
context, but support for USB drives is probably problematic at best on

I got this working with an external USB drive from LaCie, the "Brick"
which looks like a big Lego brick. It was with a generic PCI USB card in
my Ultra 5.

blade 100 memery to trade

owing to a lucky purchase i replaced my blade 100's ram with 2gig. i am
left with one 128 mb stick and three 256mb sticks. i could sell them on
ebay, but i would be more interested in trading them for other blade 100
stuff. i could use a quiet front fan assembly, or even a quiet fan. in
addiiton i would be interested in pci cards - a scsi controller and
internal/external cables and a sunpci II pro or sunpci III card and
memory.

noisy balde 100 fans

has anyone found a cure?

i took my front fan assembly apart, and the needed fan is sealed - it is
a delta 2X07A brushless dc fan. can't figure out how to do anything but
replace it. found a replacement on the net for $4, but minimum purchase
is $25. that also gets you free shipping i think.

anyone else interested in splitting such an order with me?

UNIX Blocks (no pun intended)

Hello Folks

This image was used in a lot of AT&T publications related to UNIX :-

I have several early shell scripting guides from my time at Lucent
featuring it on the cover.

My daughter received an early christmas present this weekend and I
couldn't resist stealing a few.

Hope you like it :-

Free to a Good Home (UK)

Well, the "Good Home" needs to be within collectable distance of
Manchester, UK, but the following items could be of interest to anyone who
likes preserving and playing with ancient Sun equipment.

1. Original "dimple top" 19" B&W monitor (but, originating from a Sun
3/160 it at least has a stand). Vertical time base a trifle non-linear,
but there is a second working time-base board that might be better.

2. Bwtwo sbus card for driving the above. (driver available for up to
Solaris 9).

3. Spare dimple top monitor non-working (EHT transformer?) but good for
spares.

4. Shoebox containing 140MB SCSI 5.5" disc plus QIC-24 tape drive, both
working.

5. 2nd shoebox containing QIC-24 tape (needs new pinch roller, but I know
where to obtain same) plus another 140MB disc that fails to run up to full
speed.

6. Another QUIC-24 tape (also needs pinch roller) pulled from a
rack-mounted (VME bus?) system.

7. A dozen or so QUIC-24 tape cartridges.

8. SPARCstation 1+; 28MB RAM, 400MB disc (I might be able to throw in a
1GB disc). Needs a new NVRAM (don't they all), but otherwise working.

9. Type 4 keyboard (Shift key needs cleaning, but otherwise OK) plus a
