Is Prex still under active development?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if there's been any active development going on. It
would be a shame to let such an interestig project die of digital rot.

Thanks,

ND

I use Prex daily but Kohsuke, the originator of Prex, has been silent
for a long time. I am considering pushing up a public git tree of some
of my changes so our ongoing work can be shared. I have accumulated
many bug fixes and would like to encourage others to contribute.

How many other people on this list use Prex and have changes they
would like to contribute?

Back in 2007 I published some changes at http://repo.or.cz/w/prex.git.
How many people are interested if I update this repository, or setup a
new repository at somewhere like http://github.com?

My impression is that Kohsuke is around but not terribly frequently, and
doesn't develop 'on-line', as it were --- the ARM MMU port suddenly
showed up after months of silence.

I don't use it but it's definitely on my shortlist if I ever want an
embedded OS --- it's by far the cleanest I've ever seen (and I've worked
with commercial stuff like Nucleus and VxWorks, although they do have a
lot more functionality). I did start on a port to the Amstrad e-Mailer
II, which is MMUless, but managed to explode the serial console just as
I was getting to the point where the kernel would load...

Kohsuke used to release an update every six months, but there has been
nothing for 18 months.

Sounds like there is a reasonable amount of interest so I'll start to
consolidate my changes and push up a git tree based on 0.8.1 in the
next week or so.

Prex 0.8.1 (the one with the ARM MMU port) came out in October 2008,
which is nine months ago... we're not actually much overdue for the next
version.

I stand corrected. It seemed longer ago :)

Re: Is Prex still under active development?

I could contribute with a sparc (LEON-SPARC) port. Its now finished but
boots up till half of the initialization. I'm working on it at sparetime
so I'm making slow progress.
However I'd rather like to contribute it to the original tree instead of
forking a new tree. How come that Kohsuke is not reachable. I added a cc
to the mail. Maybe he will comment...

Re: Is Prex still under active development?

Hi,
I am trying to port prex to the Nintendo DS at sparetime, If I succeed
it would be nice to share it :)
