firefox-3.0.5 pbi

Hi,

After upgrading to the last pbi, I notice some "graphical" troubles
and some unstability.
As I've got a crash, here is the long output of stderr :

Re: PC-BSD 7.1

Hi.
Should we expect any 7.1 beta with kde 4.2 RC or 7.0.3 with kde 4.1.4 ?
regards,

:P At this point, I'm looking at late Feb / Early March for 7.1. There are a few things which need to be written first, and we are waiting for FreeBSD 7.1 and KDE 4.2 to be released officially before we can build 7.1 ISO's.

Yep! I've already got a build of PC-BSD 7.1 here with KDE 4.2beta2. I'm
waiting until KDE 4.2 is released in a few weeks and then plan on
releasing some beta ISO's for you to begin beating it up a bit :)

Will 7.1 include XFCE support via a PBI?

=================================

I'm salivating already.  I knew that Kris would be there for us putting it all together at the earliest opportunity.

KDE.org says, "KDE 4.2.0 will be released on January 27th and is considered a significant improvement in nearly all aspects above the KDE 4.1 series."  Elsewhere KDE.org explains that the "significant improvements" are

  • The KDE 4.2 series will offer considerable improvements in stability, feature-completeness and performance over its predecessors in the KDE4 series.
  • The Plasma desktop shell has gained many feature that users were still missing in earlier KDE4 revisions.
  • Applications shipped with KDE 4.2 Beta 2 have many features added and bugs fixed
  • The KDE development platform has seen significant improvements on non-Linux platforms such as BSD . . . .
When you continue to read about the "other improvements" <at> http://kde.org/announcements/announce-4.2-beta2.php you will conclude that things look great for the PC-BSD desktop, thanks to Kris' foresight and decision to transition to KDE 4 ahead of the pack.

Yea.

I see that Kris has cleaned out the PCBSD ftp site < ftp://ftp.pcbsd.org/pub/ > which may mean that he will be pushing out some 7.1 betas for us soon.

KDE 4.2 which Kris was awaiting was released today (27 Jan 2009) right on schedule.

There is a very interesting and impressive "visual guide" detailing the improvements in the interface here:  http://kde.org/announcements/4.2/guide.php

From what I've read from a lot of the early releases, this is a huge step and what they wanted KDE to be from the get go. Looking forward to it.

I've been running KDE 4.2 BETA2 on my laptop for about 3 weeks now, and
I've very pleased with it. Its very stable, fast, and had plenty of new
features to help round-out the KDE 4 feature-set.

Now that 4.2 is out, I will be starting a PC-BSD 7.1-Alpha1 build of it
shortly. I'll let everybody know when its on the ftp site for you guys
to test :)

Awesome. Looking forward to it. Browsing through the featureset of 4.2 final,
it looks to be a winner. Most of what made everyone complain about what 4.0
and 4.1 cut from a functional KDE 3.5.x is now back.

Earlier you said you'd likely release 7.1 around late Feb or early March. Based
on KDE's release schedules of late, there's a good likelihood of
4.2.1 being out
by late Feb. Do you think you'll hold out for that first bugfix
release or stick with
4.2 for the final 7.1?

cheers,
Arthur
