can I as usual compile world and kernel without compromising anything of
PCBSD?

if so, what is with update manager, will it still work or do I better
disable it then?

thanks

network manager

hi

the input box for Ip address behaves a little bit strange, even after
finding out that the cursor has to be at 0 position to get it correctly
filled out, the numbers stay alined at the left

it would be nice adding hostap mode to the wireless adapter settings

apps cafe and ports

Hi

without being critical, apps cafe is still missing lots of applications.

Can I install as usual any applications from the prots tree without
getting into conflicts?

I checked this before, in nov/11, and then appcafe de-installed certain
ports when using it for installing something new. I remember my Gimp,
dhcp and some other ports constantly "disappeared"

Is this problem solved?

How is this meant to be? Can I use both, can I use one or the other?

thanks

after enabling kdm4 it fails coming up saying the hubble theme is
missing and requires manual kdmrc editing for correcting

also then there is no login manager in system settings, or is it hidden
somewhere?

thanks

Cant Login, Gnome Keyring Daemon

Hello Guys..

its me again..

well after success solving install problem that i posted on
the BIOS Stuck / HDD Bricked Issue --(http://forums.pcbsd.org/showthread.php?t=16697)

i encountered new problems after config the display.
the login screen came up, and after i logged my Id and pass. the screen goes back to the login screen.
so i try to log in as root. it does the same.

then i try to login using CLI on the other TTY.
i CAN login as user and login as root. so i guess the problem is not the system.

and then i check out the messages line on the ttyv0 (ctrl-Alt-F1).
the last message is :

-- Apr 10 10:17:45 pcbsd-2941 gnome-keyring-daemon[7590]: couldn't allocate secure memory to keep passwords and or keys from being written to the disk --

so i looked it up on google. i found a couple of interesting threads like:

Gnome PolicyKit + Keyring + dbus issues -- (http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=22537)
gnome-keyring-daemon couldn't allocate secure memory -- (http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/20451/gnome-keyring-daemon-couldnt-allocate-secure-memory)

And there's even solved ones too,
[Solved] can not log into Gnome -- (http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=20968)

but all of the above looks like specific to Gnome. but for me, i dont even start up the Gnome DE.
Im logging in using KDE. why the gnome should be involved in any way on this?

any one can give me guidance ?

Newer versions of EasyPBI are being integrated into the base system, as the features users have requested
are being added. The current version (in svn) is 1.2.

If you would like to test this version, run these commands as the superuser in your regular user's home directory:

svn co svn://svn.pcbsd.org/pcbsd/current/src-qt4
cd src-qt4/EasyPBI/
qmake-qt4 *.pro
make
make install

Then exit the superuser account and run EasyPBI as your regular user.

In order to build the src, you need to have Development-Qt and Development-VCS packages first installed
from Control Panel -> System Manager -> System Packages -> Development.

Cheers,

Dru
