Re: [PC-BSD Translations] Suggesstion: Instructions how to submit > crash logs

Hi Claive,

Whilst this is a good suggestion, this should go to the dev mailing list
(or probably docs mailing list) rather than the translation list. I have
forward this message to the dev and docs mailing lists.

I haven't looked through the handbook/wiki yet but there might have
already some information on this? If not then we may manage to add this
instruction to somewhere in those documents.

Regards,
Sam

Hello!

I've just done a few moments worth of looking..

Firefox reports to me, in its 'Page Info'  widget, that we have generator MediaWiki v1.16.0.  I looked on Freshports.org, to discover that v1.16.0 is no longer supported upstream and has been deleted http://www.freshports.org/www/mediawiki16/. Also according to freshports.org, v1.16.5 is available http://www.freshports.org/www/mediawiki116/, but I would strongly recommend upgrading to v1.17.0_1 which was last updated on 07 Jul 2011 10:05:13. A much more up-to-date wiki software should help to alleviate some issues with expected/assumed features working (or working properly).

Of course, it may not be the best timing to update our wiki from MediaWiki v1.16.0 to v1.17.0_0. PC-BSD v9.0 is in the process of eventual release (in a month or two) which means that the wiki needs to be stable for the handbook to get finished and then frozen.

later..

No big rush on this, however, Mediawiki was recently updated in freshports to version 1.18.0_1 on Jan 5th, which means an even larger difference between what is there now and what will be installed eventually.

Handbook v8.2 Errata

Hello everyone..

I have recently created a place to document those things that slip through the editing/proofing process, http://wiki.pcbsd.org/index.php/Errata
You are welcomed to give me feedback. Please let me know of anything that should be included. Thank you for your time.

Until another time..

Pottle entry

For the pbimeta.po entry 30 it says,

Bazaar-NG is a distributed version control system from Canonical.
Bazaar-NG allows you to keep old versions of files and directories
(usually source code), keep a log of who, when, and why changes
occurred, etc., like SVN, CVS, or RCS. Bazaar-NG is distributed, which
gives it significant advantages and some disadvantages compared to SVN
and CVS. The bzr implementation is the next Bazaar version from
Canonical called Bazaar-NG.

Should the last sentence, "Bazaar-NG is distributed, which ... ", be
"Bazaar-NG's design is distributed, which ..."

Do we have an english pootle entry to edit that phrase that spreads
across all the languages? I ask for other entry mistakes.

Moving Docs to Wiki

Just a FYI that we are in the process of moving the PC-BSD documentation
to wiki.pcbsd.org. This site is running MediaWiki, and we hope this
switchover will allow us to more easily collaborate and keep
documentation current. If you wish to help out with this new project,
please feel free to make a wiki account and you should be able to start
editing immediately.

I've begun moving the PC-BSD Users guide into the wiki, as well as
documenting other new features of PC-BSD 7.1. Please feel free to send
any comments / suggestions as we work on these docs.

Thanks!

To anyone interested,

I have realized an Italian translation of the PC-BSD Guide.
Currently it is placed at this address: http://www.marcoleli.it/pc-bsd/
