PowerMac 11,2 status

Hello,

I was recently offered a G5 which is not supported yet by OpenBSD
(per www.openbsd.org/macppc.html):
    * Power Macintosh G5 (October 2005, dual core (PowerMac 11,2))
      is not supported yet.
    * SATA does not work on PowerMac G5 and Xserve G5 systems. 
(I do have the PowerMac 11,2 model)

I was wondering what is preventing this hardware from being
supported.  Especially, if this is because of a lack of access
to the hardware, I could provide such an access to the OpenBSD
developpers, or I could help by testing kernels or such.

Having this running OpenBSD would help testing and building big
ppc ports, so I'd gladly help making it supported if this is
possible!

BTW, a big thank you to Dale Rahn for the PowerPC interrupt
rewrite.  This fixed all the "device timeout" I was having
with wd0 and bm0 on my B&W G3.  I haven't experienced a single
device timeout since then.

Powermac G4 (Digital Audio) freezes before openfirmware with new SATA card

I am running OpenBSD 5.0 on a Powermac G4 (Digital Audio) with an unmodified
GENERIC kernel.  It has run just fine for days at a time with no obvious
problems of any kind until i tried to add new 32-bit PCI SATA cards to it.
When i add the SATA card to one of the slots and power the machine on, 
I hear the power come on, and see the screen become active but black. 
openfirmware does not display at all and it only stays indefinately in 
this state until I power it off.

When i remove the card it works just fine.  I have three of these cards which
I have purchased new from newegg and I have tried all three one at a time
in each of the four PCI slots. 

I apologize in advance as my question is probably hardware related, and
not strictly speaking OpenBSD related; but after searching for my answers I
have been unable to find them so far.  I hope the list can help to point me in
the right direction so I can get on with the task of building out my OpenBSD
NAS.

My question is, can I reaonsably expect this card which i believe to be
supported by OpenBSD to work with this Powermac G4?  If not, why; and if so
how can i troubleshoot?  I hope someone from this list can at least point me
in the right direction.  I'll be happy to gather any information necessary.

Before adding the SATA card, the machine had been running with no PCI cards in
any of its 4 slots.  the AGP slot has a video card in it.  
 - One USB port had one keyboard attached.  No other USB devices are attached.
 - The VGA port on the video card is attached to a big screen TV which the
   Openfirmware and OpenBSD framebuffer displays at 1920x1080.
 - 2 IDE hard drives are attached: ultra0 and ultra1 , and a cd drive to ide0

booting macppc on iMac G5

Hi,

I have some difficulties to boot the latest snapshot on my iMac G5.

I started to install 4.9 through the official CD release.
Then, I upgraded to the latest snapshot.  At that point, it failed
to boot and I got :

I disabled onyx(4) and I got:
	http://www.symacx.com/~oc/tmp/current-without-onyx.png

Diabling onyx(4) and smu(4) makes it boot.

I also tried with the 5.0 release and it crashed on onyx(4) but not on
smu(4). So with 5.0, disabling 'onyx' is anough to make it boot.

To summarry:
4.9	: works
5.0	: onyx(4) should be disabled
current	: onyx(4) plus smu(4) should be disabled

Enabling the Openfirmware's telnet package works fine but it stops
working after displaying :

iSight PowerMac12,1

Hi,

I'm looking for a macppc to run openbsd on, and just wondering if "iMac G5 (iSight (PowerMac12,1)) is not
supported yet." from the platforms page is still accurate? Didn't find anything recent in the mailing
list archives.

Powerbook G4 german keyboard

Hi List,

yesterday I installed OpenBSD 5.0 on my 2006 Powerbook G4 model. First 
of all, thanks for an impressive job!
The installation worked like a charm. The powerbook came up with 
ethernet, wlan, audio and X working. This is impressive! Thanks :-)

However, I have a few open questions, I couldn't answer myself after 
reading the documentation, asking google and cruising the ppc@ 
mailinglist via gmane.org.

1.) In console mode, using "kbd de", I'm missing some very important 
keys. Namely: < > | [ ] { } @
It's kinda hard to use a unix without them... ;)
Any clue where they are? Or how to map them to some keys?

2.) Same counts for X. I just used start x and as said above, I'm glad 
that X came up and looked good.
But without them keys, again, it's hard too use.
Even shot myself into the foot when I installed fluxbox and realized, 
that ctrl+alt+backspace wasn't working. Crivens!
Does somebody has a good working xmodmap for german keyboard on 
powerbook G4 lying around?

I remember a graphical tool which helped building an own xmodmap. But I 
just can't remember how that one was called. I tried xev, but that was 
just plain confusing.

3.) Battery status: Any tool to read out that one?
