I recall that was added awhile back when I got an AMD Geode up and
running, booting off an IDE connected Compact Flash card. Amazing to
see Haiku running on a board with no fan or hard drive noises.

There was an attempt to get the Geode audio working and there's even a
build option to include it but we never did get it actually working.

Esperanto Translation

I'm using the nifty locale kit to translate Haiku into Esperanto. Apparently, there's no Esperanto translation team. How do I commit my changes?

Drupal Template

We (haiku italia) are planning to redesign our website (haiku-os.it), our idea is to make it similar to haiku-os.org, is possible to have the template of the official site to use it as base?

Happy new year!!

Personally I see no problem with sending you the template, as long as
you try to make it visually and content wise distinct enough from the
main website. This is in order to protect the brand image. I know that
for that reason the previous template was not distributed, but I guess
we could theoretically reach an agreement on how your final template
should differ from the main website.

Having said that, the big speed bump is the unclear licensing of the
current theme. It was designed by Jorge Mare. It is based on the
Acquia Marina template that can be found at
http://drupal.org/project/acquia_marina

The license of that theme is unclear. There is no mention whether it
is released under the GPL (like Drupal is). Until that can be
established, I assume that we (as the Haiku project) got a license for
use of the derative from Jorge, but that (partial) copyright (and as
such the decision) are with him.

[Note that this is not about ethics. Ethically, I feel that like code
'donations', design donations should also have an open license. This
is however, never explicitly agreed upon for the theme which causes
the twilight we are in.]

So you have two options. The first is to contact Jorge and ask him for
the template (and the conditions that go with it). The other option
would be to start from the Acquia Marina template and work from that.

Kind regards,

Niels

Interestingly, it shows up in Pulse as 'Unknown', though it did get the
speed (400MHz) correct. This is still with Alpha 1, by the way.

Cool. Good to know.

Thanks - I added some stuff to them, and will probably open up a couple
of tickets to cover some of the other hardware in this thing.

Oh, awesome, *another* project ;) Actually, I'll look into it a little
further down the road, because I think it's an awesome idea. Yes, I'm
most definitely a ports bigot.

Naturally our aim is not to make an haiku-os.org copy, just similar for the eyes (as haikuzone.net for example).
This was discussed in past, IMHO a common template between the official site and usergroups sites will improve the unity of the haiku's community.

Having said that, the big speed bump is the unclear licensing of the

I will ask Jorge for the template, Thanks : )

State of Haiku QA

Hopefully I'm off-base on this, but: I just browsed the Haiku QA mail
archives, and from that it looks like QA may be somewhat stalled. Can
anyone give me a rough idea of where organised testing stands for Haiku
right now?

FWIW, I'm willing to volunteer my time for testing Geode stuff since
I've got that WebDT 366 sitting here - which (in addition to Geode)
would give Cardbus, Bluetooth, USB, WiFi, and touchscreen at least one
dedicated physical platform to test on.

Cheers,

- Cameron.

95 Q: What license should I use?
96 A: We currently require that all submissions carry the GNU General
Public License
97 (GPL). For more information on the GPL, point the browser of your choice to
98 http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html.
99
100 You don't have to include a LICENSE.txt in your theme or module's
101 directory because there is global LICENSE.txt in the top-level directory
102 of the contributions repository. Furthermore, a LICENSE.txt will
103 automatically be added to each packaged theme or module (.tgz file) that
104 is offered for download at http://www.drupal.org/.

To further confirm this, Inside the acquia_marina tarball, there is a
LICENSE.txt and is a "GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 2, June
1991" http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/acquia_marina-6.x-2.0.tar.gz

Just to make sure, does this infer that the new D6 theme on
haiku-os.org is indeed GPL?

The new theme used in the Haiku website -- called Shijin 3 -- is version
6.x-1.3 of the Acquia Marina theme plus a local.css file with a lot of
CSS overrides and graphic files (i.e., backgrounds, icons, etc.).

License-wise, Acquia Marina is GPL, so Shijin 3 also falls under the
same license. Which means that I have to release the derived theme,
which I plan to do once I clean up the files, hopefully this coming
week, in the form of a generic (as in, not Haiku-specific) theme package.

I do have a question, though, about the Haiku icons used in the theme.
What is the license of these icons (could not find any info anywhere),
and is it OK to include them in the theme package?

Hopefully this clarifies the Haiku theme situation; if it doesn't, feel
free to ask here, and I will respond to the extent that I can.

Cheers!
