Re: Any NYCers left?

O'Flaherty's is most convenient because it's within walking distance.

Any NYCers left?

Do people still gather for a night of drinking in the city? Or do we
all have kids and need to get home ASAP?

Re: everyone okay?

That sucks! I hope your hotel (hope it's a hotel) is comfortable.

everyone okay?

Is everyone surviving the aftermath of the storm okay?

I'd have to think my NetBSD buddies were suffering.

Reach out if you need anything. I don't have power at home yet but
will try to help if I can.

OT: kindle Fire test

Could I share your Fire for an hour?

I have a friend publishing an ebook. It's heavy on tables and vector
graphics, and he'd like to see -- or, at least, like me to see -- how
it looks on the Fire before releasing it to the general public.

In the old days, hardware manufacturers would eagerly make equipment
available to developers. Somehow these days developers are customers.
Neither of us wants a Fire badly enough to buy one just to test with.

No reason not to expect beer in the process.

drinks tomorrow, June 14th

Tomorrow is the second thursday of the month.

The last time we met at Broome St. Bar & Grill, which was pretty
successful, but fish bar is also fine with me.

Opinions?

Cherry Matthew in town - food/drinks Friday?

Cherry Matthew, NetBSD developer, NetBSD/ia64 portmaster, and
world traveler, will be in town this weekend. He won't be here
Thursday, and I've got a prior commitment that wipes out Saturday
for me, at least, so I am suggesting Friday.

How about Friday, meet between 6 and 6:30PM at Broome St. Bar & Grill,
at Broome and West Broadway? It's close to work for several of us.

NYC*BUG tomorrow

This is our meeting tomorrow night. But we are pushing for people from
other projects to provide some input on the same topic, besides FreeBSD.

2012-04-04 <at> 18:45 - Location: suspenders

The journey from user to contributor, Eitan Adler

This will be an open-ended Q&A-style talk covering contributing to
FreeBSD. By the end of the talk you should know what makes a good
problem report, how to best interact with FreeBSD developers, and how
the project handles PRs and anything else that may be relevant.

About the speaker:

Eitan is a second year student at SUNY Binghamton studying Computer
Science. He has been using FreeBSD since 6.2. He is a src and ports
committer and is part of the X11 and BugBusting teams.
