setiathome

I have submitted setiathome-3.08-sparc-unknown-netbsd1.6.1 along with
xsetiathome-3.08-sparc-unknown-netbsd1.6.1 to the setiathome project. They
should hopefully be accepted and distributed soon.

if the port maintainer(s) for setiathome are reading this, please be on
the lookout! If I get NetBSD on another architecture I will ocmpile 3.08
for it as well. I forsee i386, if I have time.

You probably want to talk to tech-pkg...

Re: setiathome

Source is not available to the public, except by request to port. I
encourage all who are interested to visit berkeley's BOINC site.
setiathome 3.08 won't be around for long since setiathome is moving to
BOINC (http://boinc.berkeley.edu), but I really wanted my ss20 to do
something productive here lately. Before my sparc classic died, I had offered
to port 3.08 to OpenBSD/sparc, since I was running OpenBSD at the time...
so when I got my ss20/MP going with NetBSD I decided to switch gears and
port to NetBSD.

Anyhow, BOINC will prove easier because the source code won't really be
kept secret anymore. Anyone can grab the code and make an anonymous client
and start cranking away at packets. I'm going to look into BOINC for
NetBSD/sparc Soon(TM).

Cheap wlan access points

Hello

There are a number of wlan APs and routeres <at> 100$, these use Linux, and you may install your own flavour, e.g.
sveasoft.

I have a Linksys WRT54G and a Fujitsu Siemens AP300RT USB.

It is my opinion that I cannot install NetBSD in any of these myself. I would prefer the FS as it can use a
cheaper external antenna.

Best regards

Trond
