mopcopy for vax-elf32 binaries

Hello,

the mopcopy utility that is in the repository seems not to work, the
transfer address it too high. I made a change in mopcopy.c: set the transfer
address manually to 0, then it works (just enter the line: dl.xferaddr=0; in
mopcopy.c at line 145).
this is surely not the right way to do it, but it might help those who just
want to boot their diskless vaxen.
I've put a compiled binary (i386-NetBSD1.6.2) on

http://www.bauhuette.fh-aachen.de/~lothar/

maybe someone can use it.

good night,
lothar

Sigma RQD11 monitor access

Can anybody help me with the console commands to get a Sigma RQD11 ESDI
controller to load its debug program into memory? I have had NetBSD
running on mine for so long now that I have lost the original manual and my
disk has just crashed. I have a spare drive, but no way to format it!

Any help would be appreciated.

If you want me to have it ready yesterday, you'd better come back the day
before and ask me.

Re: Sigma RQD11 monitor access

Nigel,

I've got several of these controllers running, and I do have
a photocopy of the original manual. If nobody beats me to it,
I can send you that when I get home, in three hours or so.
I seem to recall that you helped me several years ago with
this same question!

RE: Sigma RQD11 monitor access

Hello from Gregg C Levine
I am reasonably familiar with the behavior of ESDI drives. Just not in
a VAX environment.

Nigel can you describe what you saw when the drive crashed? Anything
on the screen that's connected to the computer? Anything on anything
else connected to it?

Douglas, can you make your copy available in a format that would be
easily downloaded for others to peruse? This sounds like an
interesting problem regarding computer hardware.

   First, turn off caps lock.
Second, find the manual for Reflection.

This is a mailing list for discussions regarding running the NetBSD
operating system on VAX hardware...not a general "help with anything
VAX related" list.

Bootstrapping current?

Hi,

How are people currently bootstrapping current? I tried to get the sets
from releng from 200403170000, but they don't boot (hangs where init
should start). I tried using a -current kernel on a release userland, then
chrooting to a -current userland, but that didn't work, either.

Does anyone have any suggestions and / or a snapshot which works? The VAX
I'm running this on, BTW, is a 4000/60.

Thanks,
John Klos

TK50 tapes anyone?

I have a pile of TK50 tapes, if anyone is interested in them.
In fact I'll toss in an external TK50 drive if need be. Just
looking to clean house.
