You probably need to have a disk which has SGI volume header - it's
like a small partition where you could put some files and which PROM
knows how to deal with. On Irix you can use fx to label the disk - I
don't know what is used for that purpose by BSD folks. Or it could be
that you have run out of space on that volume header - it's not very
big. If you still have running Irix you can use dvhtool to examine the
state of the volume header.

bootable iso image

Hi

Is there a bootable iso image of NetBSD 2.0.2 that can be downloaded
somewhere?

TIA
Paolo

Try ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/iso/2.0.2/sgimipscd.iso

I haven't personally used it, but I guess it should work. See also the
section on bootable cd's from the install notes.

cheers,

I don't think that ISO is bootable. The framework used by releng does
not handle the sgi volume header stuff (yet). Maybe this will change in time
for 3.0.

Ah, apologies for the misinformation then. I guess the install notes
should mention that the standard image is not bootable?

If you mean virtual consoles: I don know if wscons works for sgimips, but
if so try wscons=yes in /etc/rc.conf and enabling a few ttyE* (look at
src/etc.i386/ttys) in your /etc/ttys.

O2 video support?

Just curious - I haven't looked at this list for a while but I'm
wondering whether X is able to run on an O2 yet?

Can one use the console without X as one can on a Sun box?
