Repeatable crashes

I left my Jornada running overnight (nfs root) several times, and each
morning I'd found that it rebooted. Quick test shows that what kills
it is

    df -hil -t nokernfs,procfs,null,fdesc

in /etc/daily. This command usually crashes the machine (it does not
even drop to ddb) from the frist attempt, though sometimes I have to
run it several times. Christos suggested that a huge struct statvfs
sbuf in sys_statvfs1 may cause kernel stack overflow. But attempts to
add debug printfs to sys_statvfs1 makes the bug disappear.

Any suggestions on how to debug it? Do you see this on other sh3
ports?

I'm pretty sure a bunch of us have left our Dreamcasts up for days on
end without this problem. I remember some reboots, but I don't think
they happened lately. But I haven't booted my dreamcast in a while
now, honestly. A few months.

It's current -current, so it should.

Yes, it's SH3, so quite possibly.

Just to be sure can you run in it a loop, may be along with some otehr
activity on the machine? Sometimes it takes me several runs to
reproduce the crash.

I don't think xsrc build hits the suspectable spots.

db_stackcheck_cmd under KSTACK_DEBUG bitrotted after lwp'fication.

The problem seems to go away after I *reverted* those changes! We
were taking an exception with exceptions blocked, which caused the
reset. Any suggestions on debugging this further?

PS: I propose we continue this thread on port-sh3 only.

Xhpc vs 8-bit?

Folks,

does anyone have a Jornada 680 old enough that it shipped with 8-bit
WinCE video driver in ROM? I still have my 16MB memory module around,
but, iirc, it has 16bit driver already.

I've got a report that Xhpc doesn't work correctly with 8 bit screen,
so I'd like to confirm it.

Thanks.

Check your dmesg:

16 bit:

hpcfb0 at hd64461video0: 640x240 pixels, 65536 colors, 80x24 chars

8 bit:

hpcfb0 at hd64461video0: 640x240 pixels, 256 colors, 80x24 chars

Uwe, my 680 has the 8-bit driver, but I'm not running Xhpc on it yet
(I am still in the process of getting NetBSD running on my 680).

Send me the list of what you would like checked with Xhpc and I will
test it once I have the unit up and running.
