The problem with the kernel panicking on boot has been fixed by Nick
Hudson, if you want to try building a new release with GCC4 for testing
I will test it for you on my B180L.

I'm looking at this as well - there are issues exposed by GCC4.

timecounters on hp700

I looked briefly at hp700's microtime, and it is the only port that has
microtime written in assembler.

Needless to say, this makes it very hard for anyone not a PA-RISC hacker
to convert to timecounters. Therefore, this is a request for someone
who _is_ a PA-RISC hacker to consider doing that. Thanks.

generic todr implementation for hp700

Attached is the code to convert hp700 to generic TODR. Testing and

I can't test it right now, but it seems better to move
settod() and gettod() from dev/clock.c to dev/pdc.c
and to call todr_attach() in pdc_init().

Feel free to change/improve it then. :-) I wasn't too thrilled with it
this way anyway.

Any progress on hp800?

Hi folks,

Is there any progress in porting NetBSD to HP800? I still have one of
these (E series) sitting in my attic and waiting for a reasonable OS.

Unfortunately, there is no evidence that NetBSD will ever run on it, or
is there? As a fallback, I'm even willing to install any flavor of
BSD, but for good reasons I'd like to see NetBSD running on it.

Any hint or advice is appreciated.

cheers and TIA,

That looks good to me. If it works for you, please commit it!

Installation problem (hard drive not properly recognized)

Hi all,

During an attempted install of NetBSD/hp700 HEAD using the most recent
netinstall.lif images (Sept. 9th and 14th), the install kernel indicates
an error of some sort when examining the hard drive. It does not recognize
the correct size/geometry of the hard drive at all, meaning I can't
install NetBSD on it.

The dmesg indicates the following:
