Any Qube 2700 users

Just wondering if there are any Qube 2700 users out there, and if the
recent restore CDs work on that one.

I just turned one off to save power because it really was idling. I can
try and hit it with a restore CD later this week if that's okay?

No big deal. I have a Qube 2 and I was looking to get a backup machine
because it's doing some stuff that I would miss if it broke. I see a
Qube 2700 for a decent deal on Ebay is all.

What version is your 2700 running now?

Nothing at the moment it's off. ;-)

Seriously I don't recall it may be on 4 but I do recall trying one of
the Qubes on 5. I'll fire it up tomorrow and see what it's running.
(It's currently buried in the rack in the garage.)

5.1_RC2 one just works.

Replacement disk for RaQ 2

Hi,

I've got a RaQ 2 that I'm planning to use for NetBSD but the original
disk is only 3.2GB so I'm looking to replace it with something a bit
larger. I'm aware of the power supply limitations, and the 137GB
capacity limit, so I'm looking for a low-power disk in the 80-120GB
range.

I've previously used a 80GB Samsung SP0842N in another RaQ 2 but
that drive is no longer available. Current WD Caviar drives look
promising but I recently tried one in a Qube 3 and the boot PROM
wouldn't recognise it at all. Looking round the 'net, I also see
reports that recent Seagate Barracudas (7200.9 and later) won't work
in RaQ 3/4 systems while older models are fine.

So, any recommendations for drives that are known to work in a RaQ 2,
or any to avoid?

Thanks,
George

Umm...what 137GB limit?

http://shon.org/qube/

From what I've always experienced if it'll fit and you are not
running the original Linux the only issue is power and heat.

If you are worried about the power supply you can do what I did and
get a third-party power supply. IIRC this is the same seller I bought
mine from:

http://cgi.ebay.com/AC-power-adapter-Sun-Cobalt-Qube-2-Mini-Web-Server-/360224344595?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53df0b4a13

Hell I'm even considering putting a SATA controller in one of mine and
running a 1TB drive. These things make pretty good storage boxes.

When I added LBA48 support to NetBSD/cobalt bootloader,
the following drive worked fine on Qube 2700 with a cheap
SATA-IDE bridge.
