Restore CD / Qube 2 / tlp failure?

I decided to finally put something less archaic on the Qube 2
and in digging around found the restore cd. How could I pass it up.

Anyway, I'm getting some sort of failure with the NIC drivers, which is
odd as other people don't seem to have mentioned this since back in 2001.
(I dug through the archives to find similar instances). Here's a dump
from the console:

Sounds like PR #20702 to me. Please check the following image:

help with running dhcp client

Dear Cobalt cube reader,

I had to install my cube again with the excellent install netBSD CD.
Because I have no reccord from the last install I'm lost how / what
to change that the cube is picking up all the network parameter from
a dhcp server. In addition, I think, our dhcp server is running under
windows 2000 which might makes the live more complicated.

If anyone could send me advise how to set up the client, this would be great.

Yours
Frank

hi

I just put thi in /etc/dhclient.conf
interface "tlp1" {
   script "/sbin/dhclient-script";
}
(dhcp is connected to the second interface)

and added to /etc/rc.conf
dhclient=YES

Yet this won't set the resolv.conf, so you have to edit it.
But DNSs don't change everyday. 8)

regards.

help with two ethernet ports

Dear Cobalt Cube user,

as you might know I have some problems to set up the dhclient on my
cube. The cube had (as most cibes) the cobalt linux installed and was
connected by the ethernet port 1 to our LAN. At set time he picked up
the internet address from our dhcp server. I tried with your help now
the same thing under netBSD 1.6. However so far no success.I looked
through the dmesg file and noticed that netBsd assigns the MAC
address / eternet ports just different.
tlp0 had comes up with the MAC address of the port2 under linux and
tlp1 gets the MAC address from port 1 of linux

I think this is the reason why I can;t bring the client to work.
Connecting the cube to our LAN by the port 2 didn't help either,
because it looks like that the dhcp request gets only send out by
port 1.
Because I'm by no mean a netBSD / Unix eppert, I might be wrong, but
it would be great if someone could confirm my observation.

Yours

Frank

PS: Setting up the ip / network settings static works - so in a way
its only a cosmetic problem

Qube 2700

Hi,
time for an update on the continuing saga of the 2700WG.
I've been unable to locate anyone who actually has a running 2700 port of
netBSD,
the raq etc is known to run but this does not run on the 2700.

So Dennis C and I have tried an number of kernels, DMA off , console port
dissabled etc.
All to no avail.

During this process I've gotten to the stage of additing the serial
interfacesucessfully to the qube and this allows
action at the bootloader and nomination of differnet kernels etc to be
booted - It doesn't however provide a console to check whats ghoing on.

To this end I've made up a LCD to serial interface which spits everything
sent to the LCD out of a serial port.
Dennis C has built kernels that then send all console output to the LCD.

This was successfully tested last night with the entire console output being
captured on a serial terminal.
It may seem like a long way around but the net result is a qube 2700 with
bootloader control and console output for debugging.

Unfortunately Dennis C is offline for a number of weeks, so progress will
stop temporarily, but at least we now have the required tools to do some
debugging and have chance at getting it running on the oirginal beasty !!

Anyway for those of you with an original qube - a working port should be
just around the corner.

Qube2 & NetBSD recovery disk.

Being almost a complete NetBSD n00b I've been looking to run the NetBSD
"recovery" CD provided kindly by Dennis Chernoivanov but I'm getting an
error on the console along the lines of "tlp0: sorry, unable to handle your
board" and then a little later "tlp1: sorry, unable to handle your board".

Now, I've read that this is something to do with the NetBSD Ethernet driver
querying the SROM of the Qube and not finding what it expects. I've also
ready that someone has a "fixed" version of the CD, my question is, can I
download this from anywhere?

Many thanks for any/all assistance, thanks also to Dennis Chernoivanov for
breathing life back into my old Qube2... it was a sad day when, due to lack
of disk space, I had to retire it.

Dave Fisher.

Hi Dave,

I've had those faults when booting a Raq2, it was fixed by dennis with a
"driver hack" .
I have two options for you:

1. I can send you the changed file so you can add that to your iso.
2. I copy the CD (version 1.6P) and send that to your home adress.
3. I can lookup the url where I've downloaded it.

I don't have that much bandwith to upload such a file, and option one and
