patch for christos_time_t merge

hi folks,

someone is probably already done fixing this but in case that's
not the case i've hacked up this patch to get alpha building again
after the time_t merge.

if someone doesn't mind giving it a review since i'm not an alpha
person that would be helpful.

please cc me directly i'm not subscribed.

thanks

xorg for alpha

[please keep me, or port-alpha, in Cc: as I'm not subscribed to
tech-x11]

Hi,
attached is a patch against netbsd-5 which allows to build alpha with
X11FLAVOUR=xorg. I didn't test clients yet (but I don't expect issues here).
scanpci runs fine. xorg -configure completes and gives a sensible
xorg.conf, with the right driver, and the right PCI ID. But I couldn't
get a working graphical display yet. with a Permedia graphic (compaq-suplied
adapter) and glint driver, the server loops waiting for a adapter's
register getting the right value.
With a TGA 3d30 adapter, the server just do nothing, and the gray X11 screnn
doesn't appear. The tga driver prints suspicious values to the xorg log
(all 0xff) which I assumes it gets from the adapter's registers, so it's
possible reading adapter registers don't always works the way it should.

Now I did these tests with a XP1000; there may be issues specific with this
platform, because a know-working netbsd-3 XFree86 binary, which is in use on
a PWS500 with the same netbsd-5 kernel, doens't work on the XP1000.
I'll do more tests with a PWS500 this evening.
Does anyone know of differences between the PWS500 and the XP1000 which
could explain X not working on the XP1000 (even with a know-working-on-PWS500
X server), and how to fix it ?
Also, I did a hack in xf86sym.c to get things build (in?/out? is a #define
on NetBSD/alpha, and so SYMFUNC() doesn't work); could someone familiar
with alpha and/or xorg infrastructure tell me if this can cause problems ?

The same occurs with a matrox and the mga driver on the XP1000.
Attached in the xorg.log in case someones see a hint at what's wrong
(I'm not sure yet if the mapped memroy addresses are OK or not).

I couldn't test on the PWS500 yet because I can't get is out of
alphabios (dead battery issue I assume)

playing more with the MGA driver and enabling debug, I can confirm
that xf86ReadMmio8 always return 0xff. So it looks like the memory mapped
by xf86 isn't in the card's registers or memory. indeed it's using a
strange value:
(II) memory base = 0xa7a486b7525203d

Any idea still welcome ...

(II) memory base = 0x2074657366666f20
(II) memory base = 0x2074657366666f20

These look bogus too.
I don't think Xorg's alpha-specific PCI support code works right on

Yes

It looks a lot like what we had in your XFree86 tree; and this one works
at last on a PWS500 (I couldn't test xorg on a PWS500 yet; I have to find
a battery to make it work again). The same XFree86 has issues on XP1000,
so it may be a Tsunami-specific issue.

How does it work with multiple VGA adapters ? Also, alpha support
graphic adapters which are not VGA (like the TGA for example)

Hi! Manuel,

I supported xorg for bebox and prep recently. There is a possibility
that you can refer to this.
