Dutch shortguide moved && question

Hi all,

I would like to notify you that the Dutch translation of the NetBSD Guide 
moved to http://www.blowgish.org/netbsd/ . Translation is progressing slowly, 
but this week I have no university courses, so maybe I can make some leaps 
forward.

BTW. I am wondering when the 1.6.1 release announcement wil become available 
for translation. I would be nice to have a Dutch translation too ;).

While the release announcement has not yet been drafted, it's not going
to be fundamentally different from the 1.5.3 announcement[1].  That is,
you can use that as a template to start the translation with the
following subsitutions:

s/1\.5\.3/1\.6\.1/g
s/1\.5/1\.6/g

Then, the list of changes since 1.6 is available in
src/doc/CHANGES-1.6.1 of tagged netbsd-1-6-PATCH001-RC1 in CVS or at
http://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/src/doc/Attic/CHANGES-1.6.1.

You may also want to compare it to the 1.6 release announcement[2].

Once the official announcement is available, I will inform you and other
translators, so that we can get it translated into as many languages as
possible.

Corrections for chap-audio.sgml

Hi all,

While translating chap-audio.sgml of the Short Guide I noticed some paragraphs  
wich are, in my humble opinion;), not entirely correct. Should I send diffs 
to this mailinglist, Frederico Lupi, www <at>  or using send-pr? For this time 
I'll post them here...

website!  We're always looking for more volunteers to help us out.  If
you have not yet done so, please go through
http://www.netbsd.org/developers/translate.html

Dawid Szymanski has been working on polish translation for some time
(see http://www.netbsd.org/pl/), but I don't know in how far he is still
working on this.  You may want to contact him to coordinate your
efforts.

Translation problem.

Hello,

are there any rules used on netbsd.org domain when translating:

Copyright, NetBSD Foundation, All Rights Reserved ?

On /fr/ are aprtialy translated, on /de/ arent.

Any idea? Proposition?

contains a good introduction to how to translate documents, and includes
several guidelines and suggestions specially for french, german and spanish
languages.

That was general question. I have read docs, but translated htdocs says
sthg else.

I think I would leave it alone. The specific words in english are
valid under the Berne treaty, and although there are doubtless valid
words in Polish under the same treaty it might be hard to find out
what they are (though perhaps you might see them in the inside cover
of the nearest copyrighted book or what have you.)

I'd suggest to use whatever seems appropriate for the language into
which the text is translated.  I decided to use the english term for the
German translation since it's a well known and often used phrase in
German writing as well.  In addition, I felt that just to be on the safe
side from a legal POV I'd leave it in english.

If there is a polish equivalent feel free to use that version, otherwise
it's no problem to leave it in English, I think.
