"Compiling" the guide

Hi all,

We started working again on the Dutch translation of the NetBSD Guide. It
used to "compile" perfectly with NetBSD 1.5.2 and netbsd-doc from the package
CD's. I cannot make the htmls under NetBSD 1.6 with netbsd-doc from the most
recent package cd set though. For building the HTMLs openjade is needed.
netbsd-doc installs opensp and jade. When I build openjade with pkgsrc it is
reported that openjade conflicts with jade (and maybe opensp, I can't
remember). When I delete jade and opensp and install openjade, the required
files for building the HTML's (and other formats) are not present. Does
somebody know how to set up a working combinations which is able to build the
guide?

With kind regards,
Daniel de Kok

right then...a few docs will need updated. those that provide instructions
for CVS (basically s/co\ syssrc/checkout\ sys\/syssrc/g). one example where
CVS instructions are given:

htdocs/Documentation/tune/6.list:

docs/Documentation/tune$ diff -u 6.list.orig  6.list

 kernel.</p>

 <pre>
-cvs co -rnetbsd-1-6 syssrc
+cvs checkout -rnetbsd-1-6 src/syssrc
 </pre>

+<p>The above will checkout the required kernel sources to src/syssrc/ relative
 to the directory the user is in, note the <code>-rnetbsd-1-6</code>, this
 is indicating checkout the kernel sources for <b>NetBSD 1.6</b>. If 1.5
 is the release, the syntax would be:</p>

 <pre>
-cvs co -rnetbsd-1-5-release syssrc

cvs co == cvs checkout

Otherwise, you probably meant 'cvs co ... src/sys', not 'src/syssrc'
(the former is right, the second not)

Yes, but for clarity and consistency, we use "cvs checkout" in
documentation.

Fixed that bit, and I'm working through the rest on the web.

my bad, 'src/sys'

gb> Yes, but for clarity and consistency, we use "cvs checkout" in

...right, and clarity is important for people who need to read docs. Perhaps
a quick NetBSD CVS reference is in need (i'll put it on my TODO list in the
sky)

anyway a paragraph on pkgsrc/sysutils/adjustkernel might do that document
justice.

Status Dutch translation of the shortguide

Hi all,

After being silent for quite a while I wanted to update you on the
status of the Dutch translation of the shortguide. Our "team" now has
two members, me and Wijnand Wiersma. Our friends at NedLinux have given
us an account to host the CVS repository for the Dutch translation
project. The "Introduction" and "Installation" chapters are already
translated, though I still need to spell check them. Current snapshots
can be found at:
http://netbsd-guide.nedbsd.nl/netbsd-guide/nl/netbsd.html

I wish you all a happy new year!

With kind regards,
Daniel de Kok

This is great news! Please keep us in the loop and let us know when
it's finished, so we can link to it from our site!

   This one's tricky. You have to use imaginary numbers, like eleventeen ...
