Enabling Xft for xdm

Is there a reason not to enable Xft for xdm?

The attached patch adds Xft for xdm.

What X11 for Intel G45?

I cc'd because I saw note about committed support the Intel G45 AGP.

What are you using for X11 for Intel G45?

My system has
(--) Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset found

And older xf86-video-intel included with NetBSD 5.0 doesn't work with it.
xf86-video-intel-2.6.3 does work a little but it crashes every day (and
must reboot to get X to start up again) and newer xf86-video-intel from
GIT does not even start up (I used the git bisect to track down the code
change where it stopped working and reported upstream).

Anyways, what X11 server and driver(s) are you using for your Intel G45?

I think i use 2.6.3 with xorg. I had to update another library for it to work
but unfortunately my home network seems to be down right now and I cannot
check what exactly. I had to also turn off something in my config file to
make it work reliably (something that had to do with xaa?)

Re: What X11 for Intel G45?

Hello,

I have the problem regarding Xinerama under ThinkpadT61. I use NetBSD 5 and
current pkgsrc. Unfortunately when I set up the Xinerama I cannot get the
Xorg working- I got only error. I removed DRI support from within xorg.conf
as within DRI it does not work either.

Does anyone get this working?

Thanks,

Piotr.

Re: What X11 for Intel G45?

Hello,

I'm using a pretty old X.org from late October 2008[0]. My kernel
(5.99.5) is still using the original [pretty old] patch I did. AFAIK
there has been a few improvement since. There was an issue with large
display size, related to the AGP size not being properly probed, with
patch, not sure if it has been commited or not.

I'm not sure when has been 5.0 branched or if any pull-up request has
been done either. I've been lost the sync with NetBSD since the
beginning of the year, but things will be better in the future (I hope
so).

ATI Radeon HD 4350 - no Xv - drm(4) support missing?

Hi!

Yesterday I tried a ATI Radeon HD 4350 on NetBSD with the
xf86-video-radeonhd-1.2.5 driver from pkgsrc.

Basic 2D works fine. However, there is no Xv support.

I read up a bit on it, and it seems that the driver needs DRM support
in the kernel for Xv:
http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonhd%3Ar6xx_r7xx_branch

So I added
radeondrm* at vga?
options DRM_EXTERNAL
to my kernel config, compiled, found that I need agp as well, added
agp* at pchb?
as well, compiled, and rebooted.

"dmesg | grep -i -e vga -e drm -e agp" then said:
vga0 at pci7 dev 0 function 0: ATI Technologies product 0x954f (rev. 0x00)
wsdisplay0 at vga0 kbdmux 1: console (80x25, vt100 emulation)
drm at vga0 not configured

Still no XV, as expected.

Suggestions for a next step?

Thanks,
 Thomas

Yeah, because our source code doesn't handle the 'new' generation of chips.

NetBSD 5.0, native Xorg and Xinerama - RandR

Hello,

I am having a problem with the native version of Xorg on NetBSD 5.0
My computer has two graphic cards. A GeForce 9300 and a Radeon 9200.
This setup works correctly and window manager (fluxbox) starts twice
(once on each screen).
I wanted to enable Xinerama but X is not showing up. It seems it crashes
after trying to enable RandR on the ATI card.
I thought RandR was disabled when Xinerama was enabled.

Any idea what I can do ?

Thank you

Pierrick

Just to clarify: The steps you mention here are for accelerated 3D
support, right? (Above I was talking about Xv/2D.)
