pxeboot & nfs

I just tried to pxeboot an amd64 kernel of today, with ddb_onpanic=1,
diagnostics etc. pxeboot tftp's and runs the kernel, the root partition
is on nfs. The last thing that happens is "Loading nfs" and a /|\ animation,
then the laptop reboots, so it is hard to see what the cause is. Any hints
on debugging this?

(BTW I happily built a release on amd64 with a kernel from yesterday and
a userland of 17th June - dual core amd - without reverting the emap commit)

Cheers,

Patrick

-current vs raidframe?

I've built a -current GENERIC kernel from sources dated last night and
tried to boot it on my Asus Eee 1000H. I have set up the laptop to boot
from a broken RAID1 mirror, however the new kernel doesn't seem to want
to touch it. A stock NetBSD 5.0 GENERIC kernel that the box was built
with boots from the same disk without any problems ...

|Kernelized RAIDframe activated
|pad0: outputs: 44100Hz, 16-bit, stereo
|audio1 at pad0: half duplex
|raid0: RAID Level 1
|raid0: Components: /dev/wd0a component1[**FAILED**]
|raid0: Total Sectors: 312581632 (152627 MB)
|boot device: raid0
|root on raid0a dumps on raid0b
|no filesystem for raid0 (dev 0x1200)
|cannot mount root, error = 79
|root device (default raid0a):

... is there something I need to do to my RAID disks before attempting to
boot -current, or is there an option I need to flip in the kernel config
to get the previous behaviour?

Regards,
Malcolm

CD/DVD fails to mount

Hi all,

On a 5.99.13 kernel, some DVD-R I was previously able to access refuse
to mount. In that case, disklabel(8) shows a unique UDF label on cd0d,
no ISO9660 one and the following line appears in dmesg(8):

CD mmc 16, mmc_cur 0x80, mmc_cap 0xd33

While none is printed on DVD-R that mount correctly.

My first guess would be that something got broken by the SD/MMC code
(the previous kernel was pre-sdmmc(4) inclusion).

any idea(s) ?

Thanks,
 - Arnaud

Looks like missing modules.
Did you install -current kernel AND -current modules?
Are your bootblocks up-to-date?

To be honest, this was a more of a test run to see whether I could get
support for the network device in this laptop before going the whole hog
and doing a complete install ...

I recall seeing some mention of running with multiple versions of kernel
and modules on the host as I think there are conflicts at the moment
in that the filenames for modules are the same and would clash ... are
there any notes on how to best support this sort of setup?

Alternatively, I'd be happy enough to capture the booting kernel
messages assuming the kernel can use a USB serial port as the console
port as this host has no inbuilt serial device ...

editline doesn't allow ^C binding

Hi all,

I am using editline in my application, compiled to run on Centos 5 using the
distribution provided by Jess Thrysoee at thrysoee.dk and distributed as version
3.0. I want to be able to gracefully catch SIGINT, and start the command-line
edit again, but I can't get ^C to do anything other than terminate the program.
To try to determine the cause of the problem, I took a look at the
examples/test.c program, but it appears that that doesn't gracefully handle ^C
either. I notice that the program itself sets EL_SIGNAL to be true, and the
documentation and surrounding comments seems to suggest that this will then
enable ^C to be bound to something other than ed-tty-sigint, but if I try to
change the binding (e.g., to ed-start-over), ^C still terminates the program.
After I change the binding, listing the current bindings correctly shows that ^C
has been bound to whatever I requested, but the action doesn't actually happen.
Does editline only work under NetBSD, or am I doing something wrong in
configuring editline?

thanks,

dan.

radeondrm drm_attach error

Hi,

using the latest netbsd-5, drm code was recently synced with HEAD.

I built a kernel with radeondrm but dmesg shows the following:

vga0 at pci1 dev 0 function 0: vendor 0x1002 product 0x94c3 (rev. 0x00)
radeondrm0 at vga0error: [drm:pid0:drm_attach] *ERROR* pci_mapreg info for 36 failed
radeondrm0: Initialized radeon 1.29.0 20080613

Any idea?

	Geert
