Quick Search Box

So, I guess this is a couple of months old, but I just saw it. From the [release notes] of the latest version of QSB:

“You will also notice the branding has changed significantly. We are moving from being a Google project,
to a fully open sourced project. This means that we will are now soliciting external developers. If you are
interested in helping out, please join the http://groups.google.com/group/qsb-mac-devmailing list
and get in touch.”

I will slam my head in a car door if a bunch of developers jump in on that project when they could be working on
“the real thing”. Just sayin’. :)

Re: Problem with Dropbox folders

The main reason not to scan your home folder to a high depth is that
there are file in Library and possibly in Music, Pictures and Movies
that you don't want scanned. Instead, create separate Documents and
Desktop scanners to whatever depth you like (but watch out for catalog
size anyway), and don't scan Music or Pictures if you use iTunes or
iPhoto exclusively and have the relevant plugin scanning your library.
Never scan Library.

Those of us with large Documents folders, of course, still have to
prune.

Everyone has their preference so you'll just have to experiment until you find the right balance between
quick access and manageable results.

Filter a catalog item to only folders?

I know it's possible to filter a catalog item to be only applications,
say, by typing ".app" (or just "app", or "application", I think) in
the "Types:" field for the catalog item. What's the relevant string if
I want a catalog item to contain only folders? Specifically, my
Documents catalog item is too big, but my Documents folder is deeply
nested, so instead of just cutting off the indexing at a certain
point, I want QS to index all subfolders but ignore files, and then
I'll get at the files with -> or /.

I posted on the subject some days ago. I don't use Clipboard history neither.
Luckily (?) in my case the hanging comes and goes. I haven't figured out what causes this behaviour. It seems
to me some memory leak triggered by something random. I can't replicate it.

I use qs b58 under mac os x 10.6.4.

How many items do you have in your catalogue?

Around 2000 elements, including music and photo items scanned via iTunes and iPhoto plugins.

Trigger for appending text to particular file repeatedly stops working

Hi all,

I've created a trigger to append text to a particular txt file. The
trigger starts out working fine, but inevitably stops working after a
while. The entry for the trigger still appears in my QS triggers list,
but the file that I want to append text to somehow becomes deselected.
That is, the trigger reads "(null) > Append Text > <?>", where the
name of the file should be in the (null) position. Any thoughts about
how to remedy this problem?

I'm running Snow Leopard with QS B57, and have no problems with any of
my other triggers.

Thanks!

Re: Filter a catalog item to only folders?

Doesn't work, I just get no results. It shows up like this:
http://i.imgur.com/KQ9fP.png —it seems to be treating that as "files
with the extension '.fold'."

I think you want to leave out the .
