Two problems and a question.
When I navigate to iPhoto in Quicksilver with the plugin installed, there is a right hand arrow, but when I press the arrow key the window just shakes and the iPhoto menu does not open. Any ideas why? I've reinstalled the plugin, and Quicksilver itself, and the problem occurs whether or not advanced features are enabled. I also have a problem with the Dictionary lookup feature - I press ".", type in a word, select dictionary in the right hand pane, and a window comes up saying whatever word I just looked for cannot be found (I've tried several common words). This window doesn't seem to be associated with any application at all - the Dictionary doesn't come up in the dock. Also, is it possible to have Quicksilver arrange icons by type when browsing? I'd like folders to appear first in the list when I'm browsing through my documents?

Re: Help
Go to the triggers section of QS's preferences and click the plus button to add a new trigger. When the dialog opens to enter the new trigger, press the period key in the first pane to enter text mode and type www.facebook.com. Make sure the second pane has the action Open URL, and save the trigger. Assign a shortcut to your trigger as described in Howard Melman's user manual (available in the Files section of this group). New user - not recognizing anything (yet)?
So far, I've only added the recommended plugins, and haven't done anything else to the default settings. When I launch QS and type in the "subject" box, it just shows the text I type, and doesn't "find" anything on my computer (ie no list of files pops up like in the screenshots. Basically, nothing happens). If I hit "tab" to go to the action box, the only action is "large type". What am I doing wrong? Thanks, CB

Re: New user - not recognizing anything (yet)?
Update - If I hit "escape" it somehow gets out of plain text mode and does what it is supposed to. Why do I have to hit escape? Can I change this somehow? Re: New user - not recognizing anything (yet)?
You're somehow in text mode, which accepts plain text, doesn't search, but lets you do operations on it like show it in Large Type, Copy, Paste, Find With... a web site, etc. If you activate QS with the default hotkey, control-space, it should start in regular mode where it does search for things. Escape does change from text to regular mode. There is another common way to activate QS taking selected text and bringing it into the first pane in text mode. It's usually command- escape, though it can be tricky to configure and can be different on different systems. You didn't say what versions of things you're using. I recommend B54 (3815) for new users whether on tiger or leopard. There's lots of info for configuration and usage in the manual: http://mysite.verizon.net/hmelman/Quicksilver.pdf Howard On Jan 1, 2009, at 6:25 PM, cricketbird wrote: > > Update - If I hit "escape" it somehow gets out of plain text mode and > does what it is supposed to. > > Why do I have to hit escape? Re: Two problems and a question.
I have iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5 with the latest version of OS X and Quicksilver. Latest version of everything I think. I've looked through the forum and it seems like I am not the first person to encounter it, but there doesn't seem to be a solution to it. Also, the Plugin sub- menu in the menu bar drop-down menu doesn't work for me either. Dictionary problem solved, thanks a lot. On Jan 2, 2:12 am, "Jon Stovell (a.k.a. Re: Two problems and a question.
Further to this, in the Modules section of the Catalog menu, the iPhoto albums bit appears to have no contents - there is no number in a grey box next to it as with the other items in the Modules menu...perhaps this is part of the problem. I still don't know how to do it! On Jan 2, 11:54 am, sujiong <johnstai...@...> wrote: > I have iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5 with the latest version of OS X and > Quicksilver. Re: Firefox bookmarks not showing up
Are your using FF3? If yes, have you turned on the bookmark export? If yes, I can't help you, sorry, If no: in the address field write "about:config" You will get a warning, click "yes I will be carefull". And you should be. Then you get a new page. Just under address field, there is now a field called Filter. In there write: <bookmark> You will get a list of things, one of them is browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML Change the value to "true" now close firefox, restart firefox and after some minuttes Quicksilver will find your bookmarks.
