Jaman: Join the World

Jaman: Think YouTube, but with almost high-def feature films sourced  
from all over the world. Jaman is built on two good ideas: First, the  
company is pushing the notion of "social cinema." The service lets  
viewers comment upon feature films and store favorites, just as they  
would with amateur YouTube shorts. Second, Jaman is going after the  
wider world of film that exists beyond the confines of highly  
negotiated Hollywood distribution contracts. Said Jaman CEO Gaurav  
Dhillon, "Less than 1% of all films in the world get distributed in  
the U.S." Dhillon aims to distribute, online, some big chunk of the  
other 99% - and for the low, low price of $1.99 to rent or $4.99 to  
buy. It's a cool product, and once you see the Jaman viewer/browser,  
you begin to think that a closed tool like iTunes is missing the Web  
2.0 movement entirely.

	Seriously -
	- I think Biden was talking about presidential candidates, 
and Condi isn't one. Yet, anyway.
	- I think he was using 'clean' in the sense of 'not corrupt' 
or 'not tainted by scandal'. Ie not surrounded by a cloud of 
dodginess like Sharpton (for example). It seems actually the most 
reasonable interpretation - corruption and scandal being a perennial 
big issue with politicians of all stripes, especially currently, 
hygiene not so much.
	- I think Biden still said something very dumb and ill considered
	- and I think they will beat him like a drum for it.

	We both agree that if you think the colour of his skin

	Have you seen the short lived TV series K Street? Even better 
for political junkies than the West Wing, real pity it didn't even 
last a season. Matalin and James Carville, who are married[1], played 
themselves, doing their real job heading a lobbying agency.

[1] forget the Clintons or the Doles, they have to be the most 
interesting couple in US politics. Both of them say they don't talk 
politics at home, but I'm not sure anyone believes them.

I remember that show.  It was very boring, and I was glad they  
cancelled it.   It was a weird mix of reality and fantasy that did  
not jive well, imho.

dvd encoding

Hi Guys.
I'm using Handbrake to back up some dvds.  I want to know what the  
best way to do this is.
I'd like my backups to look good on a 20" monitor.
I'd also like to play them on my iPod if possible.
What settings do you guys use?

Yes it does and it pisses me off.   I realize that the world will  
always have a percentage of ass hats.   The neo-nazi rise in europe,  
the persistence
of racism in some areas of the south, anti-semitic bull-crap.

It's depressing to consider how many folks live in conditions where  
they are judged on something other than the quality of their  
character instead of the color of their skin [1] or which variation  
of invisible man they seek favor from.

I wonder what it is going to take to convince that minority that we  
are all made of the same meat.

It is an area where I feel that my generation let the world down.    
On one hand we produced men like MLK and moved forward and on the  
other we gave air time to the likes of David Duke and his ilk.     
Skin Heads are the children of some of my generation and that is  
beyond appalling.

On a happier note, I'm putting in time with Habitat for Humanity this  
weekend, trying to get a family under roof that has been living in a  
trailer that I wouldn't keep a dog in.    Honestly, I think it does  
more for my soul[2] than the people we help.
