PHP/MYSQL/BSD role in London.

FreeBSD/Network/Database admin needed in the London (SW11), with 2+
years programming experience and strong DBA and SQL (MYSQL ideally)
skills.

The role will involve owning the running of our site which is written

new version and longer term you would be developing for and
maintaining this new system after decommissioning the old site.

You will need to be good at tracking down bugs in the code and finding
exactly where the problems are, the ideal candidate will be capable of
fixing a majority of the bugs also. So you should be very sure of your
PHP/SQL skills from a programming perspective and you should
understand and be able to investigate database problems such as
deadlocks, problems with replication and FreeBSD specifics such as the
pros/cons and real world effects of the various threading models.

It would be great if you could also do some or all of the following:

Javascript

This is a permanent role (onsite in London, SW11), and we only want to
talk to direct candidates rather than agencies, so please send CV's

SysAdmin with newly minted diploma

Hello, I've been a Systems Administrator, primarly on
FreeBSD systems, since 1997. I am currently graduating
from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree
in Computer Science, and am looking for a job that can
utilise my Systems Administration skills and my recently
renewed programming skills.

I much prefer to work with FreeBSD systems, I first
learned systems administration on FreeBSD (2.x) and
continue to keep my own colocated box running FreeBSD 5.x
(it is 5.2, but I'm going to be upgrading it sometime next
week).

My work experience is primarily with pair Networks, Inc;
which I worked for between 1997 and 1999, then again in 2001
until 2003. I left pair Networks, Inc to pursue my degree
full time. In between 1999 and 2001, I worked for companies
in Silicon Valley (most notably Inktomi Corporation).

pair Networks, Inc is a web hosting provider, hosting
thousands of accounts on solely FreeBSD machines. The Unix
I have secondary experience on is Solaris, which I learned
during my time in Silicon Valley.

I graduate at the end of this week, and will be available
for hire at the beginning of June. I am currently in
Pittsburgh, PA, but I am willing to relocate for a position.

My resume is at:

Atom Emet | 26 Apr 2005 05:33

Unix & BSD system administrator and programmer

Please find my resume and samples of code here:
 	http://Business-PHP.com/atom/atom_emet.pdf
 	http://Business-PHP.com/atom/gpg_encrypt.pdf
 	http://Business-PHP.com/atom/ez-pine-gpg-sign-and-encrypt.pdf

Honestly, I wouldn't hire me based on my resume. However, if you look at
my sample code you'll see that few people write cleaner, tighter, better
documented code. Despite my homely resume, I really do know what I'm doing
and I have code samples to prove it.

I have a solid background in Unix system administration (mostly FreeBSD)
and scripting. I have worked all levels of technical support from tier-1
to NOC. I can effectively and comfortably communicate with people (both
geeks and non-geeks) personally, through writing and public speaking.

Some recent projects will show my scripting and documentation style:

  	http://Business-PHP.com/opensource/gpg_encrypt/

Before entering he computer field full time, I did physical security work.
This gives me a unique perspective that I've carried with me to the
computer field.

Working odd hours and holidays is no deterrent to me; I used to be an EMT
and I'm familiar and comfortable with odd hours and on-call availability.
I'm currently based in Asheville NC, but willing to go almost anywhere for
work.

Thank you for your time and attention,
