/etc/rc.d dir processed twice on startup?

Hello all,

I have just updated my mail server to 6.0-RELEASE from
4.6 (which was very stable, but getting old). I had a script
that started mimedefang then sendmail, using
mta_start_script

em0 overrun and acpi_bus_number

Hi all

my freebsd 6.0 has kernal panic and reboot after
connecting to the network about 4 minutes. The box is
running quagga: (zebra and bgpd) as router

but the box was fine before when upgrading port tree
and configuring the zebra and bgpd

I check the log file. there was em0 RX overrun and
acpi_bus_number: can't get _ADR

What are those errors?

Thank you for your help

You should make a crash dump and show backtrace of the kernel panic.
This will help in solving the problem. And let's move to stable <at>
list, because it is the place where problems in FreeBSD STABLE
versions is discussed.

The first one means that the on chip input ring was filled
with packets, that OS was not able to process.

About FreeBSD jails administration tools

Hello,

I'd like to know your suggestions, from who is already using or
already tried some of the tools listed below to deploy and manage
FreeBSD jails:

Port: jailaudit-1.1
Port: ezjail-1.1
Port: jailadmin-1.8_2
Port: jailctl-0.61
Port: jailer-1.1.2
Port: jailuser-1.9_1
Port: jailutils-1.0
Port: jkill-1.0
Port: jps-1.0
Port: jtop-1.0

I've already got a positive recommendation about ezjail,
which I've been testing and seems very useful.

Best regards,

Alex

I've been using ezjail and I like it.

Benefits:

    - one less script I have to write and maintain

    - mounts /usr/sbin (etc.) read-only.

    - is actively being worked on

The flavors stuff is under construction and I have not been able to get
that to work properly yet. I did a bunch of work but ran into problems
with FreeBSD packages; for example:

(1) cannot package screen utility

(2) apache13+modssl + php4 combo must be built from ports (at least
according to the googling I did).

(3) having one box build packages gets tricky when you have a variety of
apache + php combos. it was an excersize in combinatorics that I
    preferred to bypass.

We use jailer for some parts of the problem, and
wrote our own jailmanager app around it.

touch ~/.cvspass
cvs -d:pserver:anoncvs <at> anoncvs.lf.net:/serv/cvs login # Passwort: lfnet
cvs -d:pserver:anoncvs <at> anoncvs.lf.net:/serv/cvs checkout jailmanager

for details...

As this only handles fbsd4, we plan to upgrade it to use jailutils
sometime in the future.
