Re: kern/68961: [PATCH] Implement /dev/full

Synopsis: [PATCH] Implement /dev/full

State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback
State-Changed-By: markm
State-Changed-When: Sun Aug 1 18:19:30 GMT 2004
State-Changed-Why:
Could I please ask you to re-implement this as part of the Linux
emulator? The only OS that we seem to be able to find that uses this
is Linux, so it makes most sense to add it to the Linux compatibility
layer.

Re: kern/69879: sk0 hangs moving lots of data

The following reply was made to PR kern/69879; it has been noted by GNATS.

From: Clint Olsen <clint <at> 0lsen.net>
To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit <at> FreeBSD.org
Cc:
Subject: Re: kern/69879: sk0 hangs moving lots of data
Date: Sun, 1 Aug 2004 13:33:11 -0700

I think I may have some more clues as to what's happening. In the case
when I was moving files, I was actually logged into the target machine, and
I used ssh to get back to the source machine before running the command.
Since I was copying all the files out of my home directory, I also would
have clobbered my active .ssh directory and all the files in it. This may
have been what led up to the hang. Nonetheless, I don't think it should
put the network interface into a tizzy, though...

 Thanks,

 -Clint

Re: kern/51583: [PATCH] allow to work with devices and sockets over nullfs [STABLE, 5.0-CURRENT]

The following reply was made to PR kern/51583; it has been noted by GNATS.

From: Brian Buchanan <bwb <at> holo.org>
To: freebsd-gnats-submit <at> freebsd.org
Cc:
Subject: Re: kern/51583: [PATCH] allow to work with devices and sockets over
 nullfs [STABLE, 5.0-CURRENT]
Date: Sun, 1 Aug 2004 14:33:55 -0700 (PDT)

The reason it fails in case #3 is that vp->v_socket is being set on the
upper layer by unp_bind(), but not on the lower layer, because that code
 is ignorant of filesystem layering.

I'm not sure what the best fix is for this. Is it acceptable to have
null_lookup simply return the lower vnode when it's of type VSOCK, or
 would that break something else?
