Question about startxwin.sh

Hello!
I have installed cygwin on my pc and now i want to run xserver.
When i run the script startxwin.sh , i can see in the terminal window
a string such as "winProcSetSelectionOwner - Clipboard not yet started, 
aborting."
And at this point the process of loading xserver was stopped.
And when i start "startx", i see next output:

XWin was started with the following command line:

X :0 -multiwindow -clipboard

_XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener: ...SocketCreateL
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already

Fatal server error:
Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an
winDeinitMultiWindowWM - Noting shutdown in progress

Can you help me start x11 on cygwin? And what i do incorrectly.

ps: now i want to install x11 on cygwin in order to use gnuplot on this 
platform.

One little note about my previous question.

AltGr works with only one key

Hi

I can't do | <at> \{}[] in X (they all need the AltGr key), but I can do #
perfectly, with the AltGr key. (It's the 3 key with AltGr)

I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista. I used to have a Toshiba with
XP and Cygwin X and never had this problem.

The non-X bash terminal window works fine.

Here's a sequence from xev where I press down the AltGr key, then
press and release the 1 key, then press and release the 2 key, then
press and release the 3 key and then release the AltGr key:

KeyPress event, serial 24, synthetic NO, window 0xe00001,
    root 0x3e, subw 0x0, time 4562077, (71,548), root:(146,643),
    state 0x0, keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:

Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am facing some problems while starting cygwin.I tried installing with
different mirror sites but all are giving the same result.This is I
attached as ppt.Please help me to solve this problem.

Problem using German layout

Hi!

I just installed cygwin on a laptop with german layout. I have two problems:

1) I have to press "~" two times to have it shown. This has been
happening since several days.
2) I created a new account today (the older one had "space" in the
login name, and every script using $HOME variable would die), and
installed a couple of programs (including powertoys) and now once I
press the AltGr key, the whole keyboard layout changes to something
bizzare! Pressing a gives f, and most keys don't work.

I am sure this is a known and solvable problem, but I couldn't find
much on google. Any idea what to do? Any other information that I
should give?

PS: Sorry for my poor english.

So i had cygwin installed on my system with Unix line endings.  I wanted to change to dos line endings, so i did a
reinstall using the same locally downloaded package with dos line endings.  installed version was
downloaded to a local directory from the xmissions site on a windows xp system.

I tried the steps laid out in your faq.

$ mount

c: on /cygdrive/c type system (textmode,noumount)
p: on /cygdrive/p type system (textmode,noumount)
z: on /cygdrive/z type system (textmode,noumount)

$ umount /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/
umount: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/: No such file or directory

And then reinstalling the x11 packages from setup.exe.

Did you have a _really_ good reason for doing this?  Did you know for
sure that doing this was going to address a need you had?  Are you
willing to accept the consequences of installing this way?  If not,
I'd recommend wiping your installation again and reinstalling with
UNIX line endings.  Installing with DOS line endings is highly
discouraged (the 'setup.exe' that will be used for the upcoming 1.7
version doesn't offer the option at all because it is such a bad

how to recompile XWin.exe ?

I want to recompile XWin.exe but I can't find the correct source files

could you give a ULR on a tarball or a CVS / SVN / GIT ... path on the 
repository into x.org or cygwin.com or ...

I have tried without success :
    * git repository on x.org : target cygwin can't be build
    * cygwin source tarball of release 6.8.99.901 : 'xrx' program is 
missing in the archive

any idea ?
