DESCRIPTION:
============
FLTK (pronounced "fulltick") is a cross-platform C++ GUI toolkit for
UNIX®/Linux® (X11), Microsoft® Windows®, and MacOS® X. FLTK provides
modern GUI functionality without the bloat and supports 3D graphics via
OpenGL® and its built-in GLUT emulation.

FLTK is designed to be small and modular enough to be statically linked,
but works fine as a shared library. FLTK also includes an excellent UI
builder called FLUID that can be used to create applications in minutes.

Updated: cpio-2.7-1

I've just updated the version of cpio to 2.7-1.

This is an official upstream release. The Cygwin version has been
built from the vanilla sources. cpio passes all (two) tests in the
testsuite.

What's new in 2.7?

* Improved error checking and diagnostics

* Bugfixes
** Fixed CAN-1999-1572
** Allow to use --sparse in both copy-in and copy-pass.
** Fix bug that eventually caused copying out the same hard-linked
file several times to archive.
** Fix several LFS-related issues.
** Fix Debian bug 335580.

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your
system. Then, run setup and answer all of the questions.

Updated: syslog-ng-1.6.12-1

I have updated syslog-ng on cygwin.com to the latest stable release
1.6.12. This is just a minor update which contains scalability
improvements and bug fixes.

syslog-ng, as the name shows, is a syslogd replacement, but with new
functionality for the new generation. The original syslogd allows
messages only to be sorted based on priority/facility pairs; syslog-ng
adds the possibility to filter based on message contents using regular
expressions. The new configuration scheme is intuitive and powerful.
Forwarding logs over TCP and remembering all forwarding hops makes it
ideal for firewalled environments.

Please read /usr/share/doc/Cygwin/syslog-ng.README for postinstall
information. I also recommend to visit the /usr/share/doc/syslog-ng/
directory and the man pages "syslog-ng" and "syslog-ng.conf".

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your
system. Then, run setup and answer all of the questions.

Updated:lftp-3.5.9-1

A new version of the lftp package is available in the Cygwin
distribution. lftp is a sophisticated file transfer program and
ftp/http client. It
supports multiple network protocols, offers tab completion, command
history, job control, and bookmarks, can mirror sites and transfer
multiple files in parallel, and keeps trying interrupted operations
until it can complete them.

Changes in version 3.5.9-1:
* New upstream release, including at least one security fix. The
previous Cygwin release was version 3.5.1-1; see
http://lftp.yar.ru/news.html for a list of changes since then.

EOL for Windows 95/86/Me

I'm not sure if it has reached the consciousness of the general Cygwin
user base yet but I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of the
fact that we will be ripping out support for Windows 95, Windows 98, and
Windows Me in the next version of Cygwin, which will be version 1.7.0.

This has been announced on our web site (http://cygwin.com) for a couple
of weeks, has been discussed in the cygwin-developers mailing list
(http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-developers) for six months or so, and has
been discussed between Corinna (corinna) and me (cgf) for longer than
that. I hope that the reason to drop the support is fairly obvious. If
it isn't feel free to respond to this message in the cygwin mailing
list.

So, barring any catastrophic problems with the current released version
of the Cygwin DLL, the last Cygwin version with support for
non-Windows-NT class versions of Windows will be 1.5.24-2.

We're not against someone stepping up to continue to support the 1.5.x
series in a separate CVS branch, if there is still interest in this. We
can provide this person with checkin privileges to the cygwin source
control and we'd expect that this person would make periodic releases of
the old 1.5.24 version.

Barring that however, it's so long Windows 9x.

FYI,
cgf

Updated Cygwin Package: fetchmail-6.3.6-1

New News:
=== ====
I have updated the version of fetchmail to 6.3.6-1. The tarballs should
be available on a Cygwin mirror near you shortly.

The only change between this version and the previous one is the
following:

    o update to version 6.3.6

If you are a Cygwin fetchmail user, then please upgrade ASAP because the
previous version has several security vulnerabilities.

Old News:
=== ====
Fetchmail is a remote mail retrieval and forwarding utility intended
for use over on-demand TCP/IP links, like SLIP or PPP connections.
Fetchmail supports every remote-mail protocol currently in use on the
Internet (POP2, POP3, RPOP, APOP, KPOP, all IMAPs, ESMTP ETRN, IPv6,
and IPSEC) for retrieval. Then Fetchmail forwards the mail through SMTP
so you can read it through your favorite mail client.

See the fetchmail home page for more details:

    http://fetchmail.berlios.de/

Please read the README file:

    /usr/share/doc/Cygwin/fetchmail-6.3.6.README
