I've made a new version of the Cygwin DLL and associated utilities
available for download. As usual, a list of what has changed is below.

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your
system. Then, run setup and answer all of the questions.

If you have questions or comments, please send them to the Cygwin
mailing list. See http://cygwin.com/lists.html for details.

Updated: coreutils-5.97-1

A new release of coreutils, 5.97-1, is available, replacing 5.94-1 as the
current version, and replacing any experimental use of 5.96-1.

NEWS:
=====
This is a new upstream release of coreutils. It depends on features that
were only added in cygwin-1.5.20-1. Upstream changes from 5.94 are
summarized below; see also /usr/share/doc/coreutils-5.97/NEWS.

Cygwin-specific changes in this release, as compared to 5.94-1, include
the following:
+ Optimize ls -i to use d_ino and avoid stat when possible.
+ Fix dd regression from 5.3.0 on text mounts - when iflag=O_TEXT is not
specified, default to binary mode.
+ Use new freopen(NULL) semantics in many apps.
+ Treat 8-bit characters as printable when quoting a filename in an
interactive or error message, such as for rm -i or cp -v.

If you intend to build this package from source yourself, you will need to
manually install autoconf 2.60 from an upstream tarball, or wait until the
cygwin package of autoconf has been upgraded.

DESCRIPTION:
============
GNU coreutils provides a collection of commonly used utilities essential
to a standard POSIX environment. It comprises the former textutils,
sh-utils, and fileutils packages. The following executables are included:

[ basename cat chgrp chmod chown chroot cksum comm cp csplit cut date dd

Updated: gdb-20060706-1 (also includes GUI "insight" debugger)

I've made a new version of the gdb debugger available for installation.
This version is a refresh from the CVS repository on sourceware.org.
The package also contains the "insight" graphical debugger.

This version fixes the problem of extraneous SIGSEGV's that were
generated by certain functions in the cygwin DLL. It should no longer
be necessary to continue past these errors since they should now be
silently ignored.

I had delayed releasing this version of gdb because I was getting
sporadic "invalid handle" errors in some situations when attempting to
restart a program within gdb. However, since I can't easily duplicate
the problem, I thought that it would probably be a good idea to release
gdb even with a known bug -- given the number of complaints about the
SIGSEGV's seen in the cygwin mailing list.

Unlike most cygwin packages, my preference is that bug reports for the
insight debugger, and the tcl/tck packages that insight relies on,
should go to the insight mailing list at sourceware.org (the host of the
cygwin list and cygwin web site). If you do send a problem relating to
those packages to the cygwin mailing list, expect to be redirected
there.

Remember that to start the insight debugger, you type "insight". Typing
"gdb" just brings up the command line debugger.

Updated: rebase-2.4.3-1

New News:
=== ====
I have updated the version of rebase to 2.4.3-1. The tarballs should be
available on a Cygwin mirror near you shortly.

The only notable change (to rebaseall) since the previous release is:

    * Changes to support Cygwin's CYGWIN=transparent_exe option.

Old News:
=== ====
The Cygwin rebase package contains two utilities, rebase and rebaseall.
The first utility is modeled after Microsoft's SDK rebase:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/tools/tools/rebase.asp

The rebaseall utility is a convenient way for users that suffer from the
Cygwin rebase problem to rebase their entire system (i.e., all of their
DLLs).

Please read the README file:

    /usr/share/doc/Cygwin/rebase-2.4.3.README

since it covers requirements, usage, known issues, etc.

I would like to thank Ralf Habacker for providing the imagehelper
library. This library has enabled me to create a rebase utility that
is usable by all Cygwin user (regardless of platform) on all DLLs
(regardless of stripping).

Updated: gdb-20060706-2 (also includes GUI "insight" debugger)

I've made a new version of the gdb debugger available for installation.
This version is a refresh from the CVS repository on sourceware.org.
The package also contains the "insight" graphical debugger.

This version is a quick refresh to accommodate changes in gdb's configury
required to actually generate the insight binary. The previous release did
not contain insight due to these configuration changes. This release does
contain an "insight.exe" program.

Typing
"gdb" just brings up the command line debugger.

which understands MS-DOS path names. Please! direct any questions about
the MinGW version of make to the appropriate MinGW mailing list.

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
