update: gsl-1.7-1 (GNU Scientific Library)

The cygwin gsl package (GNU Scientific Library) has been updated
to 1.7-1. This is a new upstream release.

NOTE: Starting from gsl-1.6-2,if you want to use the GSL, your path
should contain /usr/lib/lapack. This directory is added by
/etc/profile.d/lapack.sh. If you use the start-up scripts from the 
base-files packages this script is executed automatically.

Libungif is a library for manipulating GIF files, without the

Updated: gnome-keyring-0.4.5-1


The following packages have been updated in the Cygwin distribution:

*** gnome-keyring-0.4.5-1

GNOME Keyring is a system to store passwords and other sensitive data in
a standardized way across all GNOME applications.

A keyring stores a collection of encrypted passwords and encrypted
information about those passwords. A user can have multiple keyrings,
each for a different use, but there is a "default" one. There is also a
special "session" keyring which is not stored on disk and goes away when
you log out.

This release is an update to the newest upstream version.

Updated: stunnel-4.12-1

I've updated the stunnel package to version 4.12-1.

Stunnel is a program that allows you to encrypt arbitrary TCP connections
inside SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). Stunnel can allow you to secure non-SSL
aware daemons and protocols (like POP, IMAP, LDAP, etc) by having Stunnel
provide the encryption, requiring no changes to the daemon's code.

Changes since 4.11-1:
- Updated to mainstream 4.12

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your
system. Then, run setup and answer all of the questions.

cygwin-doc-1.4-3 released

An updated version of cygwin-doc is now available. It includes
Cygwin and newlib documentation in formats such as man, texinfo,
HTML, and PDF.

This is a normal incremental release to sync with the latest CVS, with
a few minor changes:
--the FAQ is now in the same style as the User's Guide
--the intro(1) man page no longer lists "ash" as /bin/sh (like most
Linux distributions, Cygwin now uses "bash" as /bin/sh)

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the <http://cygwin.com/> web page.  This downloads setup.exe to your
system.  Once you've downloaded setup.exe, run it and click "Next"
madly until you get to the end of the updating process.

Updated: ruby-1.8.3-1

I have updated the version of ruby on cygwin.com to 1.8.3-1.

This is an upstream security and bugfix release.

Ruby versions up to 1.8.2 have a vulnerability that allows an arbitrary
code to run bypassing the safe level check.

As for the bugfixes, the official release message doesn't contain a
description of them, sorry.

Updated: openssl-0.9.8a-1, openssl-devel-0.9.8a-1, openssl097-0.9.7h-1

I've updated the version of OpenSSL to 0.9.8a-1.  This also includes the
openssl-devel package.  The compatibility package openssl097 has been
updated to 0.9.7h-1.

This is a upstream ecurity and bugfix release.  The Cygwin release is the
vanilla version, no additional patches.

Updated: guile-1.6.7-4, guile-1.7.2-3


I have updated the Guile package to versions 1.6.7-4.  This is a
bugfix release, which fixes several packaging problems.

Also available, in the test distribution, is a 1.7.2-3 CVS snapshot,
with similar packaging fixes.  Guile CVS has, amongst other things,
gmp rationals and a new garbage collector, which is most helpful for
development, esp. debugging.
