Hi,

I'm pleased to announce the availablity of Contiki 1.3 for the Apple2.
General informations on Contiki - a modern, Internet-enabled operating
system and desktop environment - can be found on:
http://www.sics.se/~adam/contiki/

Contiki for the Apple2 needs an Apple2 Ethernet card for TCP/IP
connectivity. These two cards are supported:
- Uther (http://www.a2retrosystems.com/products.htm)
- LANceGS (http://lancegs.a2central.com/)

Contiki for the Apple2 can be downloaded from:
http://www.a2retrosystems.com/downloads.htm

Contiki 1.3 for the Apple2 comes again (like 1.2) in two flavours:

- The 40 Col. variant that requires at least an ][+ with Language
Card.
- The 80 Col. variant that requires at least an Enhanced //e with
Extended 80 Col. Board.

about contiki elf load

hello,guys

I 'm studying the part of elf load of contiki and i find it's a little
hard to understand. I see a document "Executable and Linkable Format
(ELF)". It's quite help me a lot. But as for avr and msp430 elf
format, I know little . I think maybe avr and msp elf is different
from x86. So anyone can give me some help about how to understand the
elf code of contiki and avr /msp430 elf file format.

Thanks a lot.

Regard,
ares.qi

i havent looked at the elf loader in contiki... but the elf format doesnt
change a lot between platforms, the most noteable difference would be the
relocation entries (which are platform specific), the rest should be pretty
much the same as on x86.

You may also use GNU binutils as a reference for how to manipulate
ELF. It's not a great example but most info can be found there.

best CPU for Contiki

I played with the gtk/contiki and I'm interested in getting a small
system dedicated to trying out real Contiki. I've found some
inexpensive FPGA boards with keyboard, network and video capabilities.
and some fairly affordable ARM dev kits. The Parallax Propeller is
interesting too, but Contiki would have to be ported to that. (maybe
it would be a good project once I've experimented with Contiki more).

What architecture would give me the best experience with Contiki? If I
go with an FPGA I could really choose anything. If I go with ARM I
would be running Contiki as 32-bit, is 32-bit considered "real"
Contiki or is 8-bit preferable? (I was going to write some
applications for Contiki, it seems that if I want them to be portable
I should run them on an 8-bit).

Or is there a bare x86 port of Contiki that I could just run on any
old desktop as it's own indepedent OS? (assuming I put a supported
network card in it)

Re: Webserver on ESB node

Yes. It most definitly is.

With only some minimal changes I've even run a webserver hosting a
java applet connecting to the very same ESB-node hosting it (so
"legal" in the java sense).

For normal html there's no need for chages, it is pretty much just
compiling the webserver application distributed with contiki.
