Hangouts remote desktop does not work to ChromeBook???

Hello all,

I am very upset that this feature does not work because I bought a chromebook for my ageing mother who lives in another country, and I need to be able to show her how to do things.

I see many other posts from people who have bought chromebooks for their parents because chrome is simple, fast, reliable, but this gap is a HUGE gap, and I am sure will turn off a lot of potential buyers.

Please could you look into this with some urgency, you would make a lot of people very happy!

Cheers,
Mark.

Black screen on boot

Hey! I have a major problem with my Chromium OS build (I'm using a laptop with an AMD processor) :

Whenever I boot via the USB, the screen just stays black and a lot of small red artifacts show up all across the screen. I suspect the drivers to be the cause, but I have no idea how to solve it..
Can anyone help me? I have tried almost every chromium build out there, but none of them work.. It's most likely the display driver that's not supported, as I've heard that Intel is pretty much the only way to go... But I was wondering if there's a build with AMD drivers pre-installed on it?

PC Specs:

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II N950 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
Memory: 4GB
Hard Drive: 500GB HDD
OS: Windows 8 Pro
Display Type: 15.6 inches LED
Max Resolution: 1366 x 768
GPU: AMD Radeon 6750M

Installed Chromium OS freezes immediately after boot, and correct way to include WiFi firmware?

I downloaded the latest Hexxeh Vanilla build(April 20), and tried to run it on an HP Mini 100e. That model isn't for retail, only educational, but for some reason a local hypermarket was selling them for 100€. It's not my primary laptop. Anyway, I wrote the USB stick and tried to boot it, and it booted to the first screen with language and network setup, and froze after about 10 seconds. Before freezing, if I checked the network menu, it said there were no connections, and WiFi was disabled. Nothing worked(tried Ctrl+Alt+F2, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Alt+SysRq+buttons, etc) after the freeze except forcing it off by holding the power button down. This problem turned out to be caused by missing WiFi firmware, so I booted the stick on my primary laptop(on which it worked fine), copied /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/*(it needs the rtl8192se firmware) from the HP's existing Ubuntu installation into the same location on the stick(remount / rw, mkdir, cp files), and booted again on the HP, and it worked. No problems, touchpad, camera, sound, screen brightness, everything works fine. So having a USB stick sticking out of the side is impractical, so I typed "install" in crosh, and it installed(from sdb to sda). I booted from the hard drive, and it froze just like it did in the beginning with the stick, only this time, if I quickly clicked the network menu, it'd show a list of WiFi networks before freezing. I took out the hard drive and put it into a desktop to examine, and the WiFi firmware files were there(I guess only rtl8192sefw.bin is needed, but I copied over all of them anyway).

So my questions are: how should I proceed from here to get Chromium OS on the hard drive working like it does on the USB stick? And what is the correct way to get the correct WiFi firmware in Chromium OS? I guess just copying the files into Chromium OS's installation isn't quite right.

Thank you.

Google+ doesn't work

Hi guys,

I've updated my tonyd build on the latest release. The version is 29.0.1511.1 and the platform 4149.0.2013_05_19_0539.
Google+ doesn't work, Google Hangout doesn't work...
Do anyone have the same problems?
I'm really frustrated!!!!
I don't know why, the previous build worked fine.

Alessandro

Characters missing from Hebrew Keyboard

Unicode characters for vowel signs are missing from the ChromeOS Hebrew Keyboard.
(U+05B0 - U+05B9, U+05BB, U+05BC, U+05C1, U+05C2)
Wikipedia has a good chart: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niqqud#Macintosh

I recommend mapping the characters to the number row in the same order that Windows OS has it, (outlined by
the Wikipedia article) because that is the standard for most Hebrew users. And using the 'Alt' key +
'Number' key to type the vowels like the Mac OS, because it seems you already have some special characters
mapped with the 'Alt' key.

It seems like this would be a quick fix, so someone please work on it soon. I work at a school and this would be a
big help for making chromebooks a viable tool for us in the coming school year.

video script unauthenticated

Hi guys,

on the latest tonyd build I've discovered a "bug" so I'd like to know if anyone have the same issue. When I try to see a video on youtube, it doesn't work and remain a black screen. So I noticed that on the right side of the address bar, there's a shield icon that tell me " this page includes script from unauthenticated sources" and when I try to load the unsafe script, the video works fine.
Is it a real bug or nothing to worry about?
Any help?
Thanks

Alessandro

I am having problems with finding a network.

I have a Lenevo YogaPad 13 with w8 on it. I just downloaded the latest Chromium OS build from Hexxehhttp://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ and would like to duel boot it with w8.

I followed the instructions he gave on his website, and it still would not boot. I then edited my BIOS settings to allow for Legacy OS so that it could boot from the USB. I then got to the setup page for Chromium OS and it could not find my WiFi. And because it could not find my Wifi, I could not proceed to the next step.

So if anyone could tell me how to fix this problem it would be great! Also a side question, will duel booting wipe my hard drives clean? (Sorry, I am new to this).

Thanks.

Chromium Aura Builds

Hi
I just tried the last week to get a regular Chromium OS Image to work with any of my graphic cards. Well it didnt worked. As i didnt use Intel-Machines it seems to be very hard to use Chromium OS. I recompiled the X-Server multiple times with different build options, but I always got an Segmentation Fault after loading the GLX-Extension.
So as i like the Aura-Interface i am forced to use it this way: https://github.com/dz0ny/lightdm-login-chromeos
But i've got the problem with dbus-stub implentations,
It is not a big problem that Chromium shows up fake vpn data to me, but the discharging battery stub is extremly annoying. Is there a way to get a stubfree Chromium-Aura Build, which would run under a normal Ubuntu?
