Re: x11 fullscreen with leopard

I did use Tiger's X11 for quite a while under Leopard.
Your success rate will probably depend on whether you are
using intel or ppc.

On my ppc machines I simply installed the xorg deb I had
from fink on Tiger, then dropped in the quartzwm binary from
Tiger's X11, as I had been doing on Tiger. I created a
suitable xorg.info in my local fink tree to persuade fink to
do this. That was several months ago now, so I can't
guarantee it still works, but it worked well when it did,
and many fink apps didn't need recompiling between Tiger and
Leopard.

On intel that didn't work. I don't remember why, it might
have been the "yellow cursor bug", it might have been
library incompatibilities as well. I really did have to
install Tiger's X11 and then the yellow cursor patch.
There are probably some posts about this from me and others
in the archives of this list.

I had significantly more problems with fink apps and
compatibility on intel, so much so that I have been
reluctantly using the newest xquartz and Spaces for some
time. It is usable now, which it certainly wasn't when
Leopard first came out, but it still doesn't work as well
for me as the full screen xorg with fvwm2 I was using under
Tiger. I can't go back to Tiger, my intel machines don't
run Tiger. If they did I probably would until full-screen X
works under Leopard.

What sort of PowerPC are you on?  I get the same error on a G4; and I've noticed issues where sbcl fails on G4 but not G5.

OK--after a bit more digging: I get the same failure for the current
clisp on 10.4/G4 but not 10.5/G4 ; I tried 2.45 (from J.F. Mertens)
and had the same failure. I'd be interested to know whether this
occurs for a G5 on 10.4.

probably unrelated but i am also having trouble with clisp 2.46 on an

error comes as:
