Test, trying to reach fink-devel

It seems I can't send any mails to fink mailing lists anymore -- sorry
if you get this testmail multiple times.

Cheers,

Max

qt3, kde in 10.4-transitional/stable

I managed to build scribus-1.2.1 in 10.4-transitional/stable by simply
copying the qt3-3.3.4, freetype219 and scribus package descriptions from
unstable to stable. All other dependencies are already there, and
everything builds without problem. Scribus works, too. The only
correction was to remove the BuildDepends on cups-dev, since the latter
package is no longer neccessary on Tiger (it should either be replaced
by a dummy or removed altogether). I would like to do this transfer of
qt3-3.3.4 "officially".

My question: What is planned for qt3 in 10.4/stable? In 10.3/stable, the
argument against having qt3-3.3.x (needed by scribus-1.2.1) was that the
kde version in stable needed the older qt3 version 3.2.2. Now kde has
not yet been put into 10.4-transitional/stable, and I would like to
suggest not to copy the old version 3.1 from 10.3/stable to
10.4-transitional/stable, but rather the version 3.4 from unstable, if
at all.

That's fine by me, I plan on moving KDE 3.4 Any Minute Now (read: as
soon as I have free time to try to double-check new dependencies) to
stable. It's not perfect, but it's good enough, and beats the hell out
of 3.1.

Feel free to do what you need to get scribus happy.

Re: Re: [fink-seed] findutils problem

Hey guys,

I'm not sure why nobody's asking me about this, given that I'm the
maintainer. In 10.3/unstable I've already put findutils 4.2.20 rev 2,
which fixes this issue in my testing. I don't yet have a Tiger system
working, so if somebody would like to test my fix and then commit the
fixed version that would be fine by me.

Stary find processes hanging around.

Hello.

Was playing around with last weeks HEAD. Now I have (sometimes),
something like this haging around

27042 std- U 0:00.02 /usr/bin/find /sw/var/lib/dpkg/info/ ( -type f
-or -type l ) -and -name *.shlibs -newer /sw/var/l
27094 std- U 0:00.02 /usr/bin/find /sw/var/lib/dpkg/info/ ( -type f
-or -type l ) -and -name *.shlibs -newer /sw/var/l
27140 std- U 0:00.01 /usr/bin/find /sw/var/lib/dpkg/info/ ( -type f
-or -type l ) -and -name *.shlibs -newer /sw/var/l

They block all operations and are pretty tough to kill :)=

The problem is that poll() on Tiger doesn't work on devices. The
version of zsh shipped with the system has the change described above.

Just seen that. Is that a feature? (grins).
Well I guess the fix is pretty trivial then. I will see whether there
are any other issues I can peek at while I am at it.

It seems the .html files are going in doc/standards/*.html instead of
doc/*.html.

Re: Autoconf 2.5 on Tiger

Yeah, the problem is that tiger has a very new texi2html which is incompatible
with the older version assumed by a few packages.

OTOH, fink's texi2html package has deliberately not been updated to this
newest version. So "BuildDepends: texi2html" should cure the problem
for now.

dyld runtime error

Dear Developers,

I have tried to port labplot and have also submitted it for inclusion
in Fink. However, it seems to not work in Tiger even after a
recompile. Konqueror, Scribus, etc work fine but I am unable to run
labplot or start kde (startkde just hangs without any error).

My labplot crash log is as follows:
