When's the next meetup?

The winter weather's beginning to clear up, and even the Wikimedia staff
are crawling out from under the rubble of our office move...

I'm thinking it's about time for another San Francisco Wiki(m|p)edians
meetup!

There's a lot of smart, active people in this town. Let's find a clear
weekend, get out there and kick some wiki butt!

Re: When's the next meetup?

Funny you should ask....

A Dutch documentary filmmaker will be in town next weekend. I guess he
is interviewing Jimmy and several other individuals for his project.
He's also interested in meeting Wikipedians, however. I know it's
short notice -- and I don't know if anyone is interested in getting
filmed -- but I suggested having a little meetup might be the best way
to get people in one place. He is free and in SF on Saturday only.

What do people think?

Aside from that, though, we should definitely have a meetup regardless!

Saturday afternoon sounds good, how about someplace less noisy than the
ferry building?

I believe this Saturday evening is also the big New Year's festival in
Chinatown.

This weekend is also Wondercon so some locals might have other plans.  What about the first Saturday in March?  This will give time to find just the right place and get it into people's schedules.

Re: Wikimedia-SF Digest, Vol 2, Issue 1

Also during the entire week, there is a VideoGame Developer's Conference as
well as [[Video Games Live]], which happens on Friday. There are quite a few
events going on this week. So if we were to do this meetup, sometime during
the mid-week may not be that much of a good idea, if some have other
commitments to tend to. Since March is the perspective date for the WikiParty,
and this weekend is the last one in Feb, I think Saturday would be the best
time for a meetup, unless we integrate it into the March party...

Re: When's the next meetup?

I wouldn't suggest this Saturday (it's inconvenient for me as well)
EXCEPT for this film crew that is in town. If there is any interest in
meeting with them, it needs to be this weekend.

Otherwise, March sounds lovely.

cheers,
phoebe

I'm certainly up for a meeting on Saturday, formal or otherwise.

This Saturday is impossible for me, unfortunately. Previous commitment
I can't cancel :-(

Re: When's the next meetup?

Yes, ok. Any ideas for where to go??? I would love to meet up for
lunch with a handful of people tommorow. Casual setting, quiet,
someplace that we could do a little filming (maybe get some of those
laptop action shots that computer documentaries always seem to have!)

I should be available late morning -- early afternoon tommorow (I have
an evening commitment). Anyone want to go for lunch with me?
