Re: user and group session variable

I found the session variables, looking at the user.php page
$_SESSION['wsUserID'] , $_SESSION['wsUserName']; my problem is I need to use
those variables in an external page and when I click to the external link on
my wiki, I have a custom menu bar, those variables are flush.

Any ideas,

Thank you,

Pattry

You can see your user# in Special:preferences, and the groups you belong
to in the page source (search wgUserGroups)

Hi Lonny,

thanks for the link, that is exactly what I _would_ need, but unfortunately
the company developing it is down and no source code is available on the
net. Vaporware? :-((

Re: Search less than 4 characters.

Heya Jim,
We've been messing with this around for quiet a while, and we figured
that, since the search is done in the MySQL database, the only way to
solve it is to change the MySQL configuration and rebuild the indexes.
If someone else finds another solution, please let us know as well.

Hi All,

I am running a Linux server with about 30 wikis, each with its own
database instance using MySQL5 on a separate server. I have found that
the wiki's search engine will only search for strings 4 characters or
more. This is evidently caused by the MySQL's default configuration
having full text search indexing limited to a minumum of 4 characters.
One of my customers would like their wiki to do 3 character searches.

I have found a good description of how to fix this by modifying the
MySQL configuration, rebuilding indexes and restarting MySQL here:

Uploading files using importImages.php and the override/skip problem

I have tested with */maintenance/importImages.php* to upload files to my
wiki-installations.
Seems like it works quite easily

So my basic idea was:
* copy my new file to a SMB-share on my wiki-server
* cron starts a script which runs the importImages.php script and
deletes the importet files

Well reaching this point i notice a small *problem regarding override.*
Per default importImages skips the upload/import of an image if there is
already a file with the same name in my wiki.
Thats ok and does makes sense.

Is there a way to realize if importImages does successfully import an
image ?
Cause i want to delete only the imported images from the SMB-share

If i start importImages from command-line i get something like this:
 >> WsusDebugTool.zip exists, skipping
 >> Importing test_voda.pdf...done.

*So my final question is:*
--
how should my cron-script looks like to execute
maintenance/importImages.php for each file in my INCOMING-SMB-folder
(i.e. /media/samba/import_me_to_wiki/)
and delete the file ONLY if the file was uploaded/added to my wiki.

any ideas howto implement this ?

Hooking OutputPageBeforeHTML, no $wgParser->getTitle()?

I wrote an extension that hooks OutputPageBeforeHTML and runs on every
page load, but intermittently, $wgParser->getTitle() returns NULL.
Anybody know why?

Here's the weirdest part: if you edit an article in IE and save it, then
when the article redisplays, $wgParser->getTitle() returns NULL. But if
you edit in Firefox and save it, $wgParser->getTitle() returns the
correct Title object.

Any explanations? Bug? Or did I write something wrong?

The minimal code looks like:

<?php
// Run on every page load
new MyClass();

class MyClass {
  public function __construct() {
    global $wgHooks;
    $wgHooks['OutputPageBeforeHTML'][] = array($this, 'myMethod');
  }

  // Hook function
  function myMethod($parserOutput, &$text) {
    global $wgParser;
    $title = $wgParser->getTitle();
    if ($title) {
      echo "OK";
    } else {

Watch List Problem in MediaWiki 1.11.0

We are using MediaWiki 1.11.0.
In "my preferences", in the "E-mail" section, I have checked "E-mail me
when a page
I'm watching is changed".

After that, for the Main Page, I have the checkbox on the Edit page
selected which says
"Watch this page".

I made a change, but did not get an email. I was able to go to the "my
watchlist" page and
see the change.

What did I do wrong ? Why didn't I get an email ? What can I try ?

Thank you,
Lori
