[activities] A few more list admins for jobs <at> slug

I just noticed that someone approved a whole bunch of mails for
jobs <at> slug that dated back to June... should that list have another admin
or three? A few day's delay is fine, a month is probably kind of
useless.

If more admins are required, I can help out. If not, no worries!

Cheers,
Rob.

Just checked who's moderating the jobs list, and there was no one.

Added myself. I encourage others with access to do the same.

Can you change the list password and then add Rob Sharp too? There have been
non-committee admins before and that seems to work fine.

Noticed the flood of SPAM come back (being <listname>-owner <at> slug.org.au
for most lists). Thanks to whoever it was who replaced the power supply
(again).

[activities] Software Freedom Day

Hi all,

So Software Freedom Day is Sept 10 and we haven't organised anything yet,
however there is a free fashion event in town at Pitt St, and so perhaps we
could take advantage of the crowds and have a booth or just people running
around with cd's and stickers for people. This would at least get some
conversations going and we could also have SLUG details in the CD covers so
we are pimping the local community as well as free software.

http://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/WhatsOn/html/custom/2234-event-details.asp?EventID=4154

We can order tshirts from softwarefreedomday.org for like $15 AUD each, and
if anyone wants to be involved, I'm going to order a bunch (which we should
get in time) and I'm putting in a grant proposal to linux australia for
them, as I've encouraged all teams to do :) If you want some other ideas,
check out what some of the other teams are doing at
http://maitri.ubuntu.com/softwarefreedomday/wiki/index.php/Australia

We have about 15 teams around Australia (not all are listed on apge above)
and it is the first attempt at a national view of the day. Lets kick some
ass and get some good press and growth for free software in Sydney! :)

Cheers,
Pia

Aww, I like to be someone.

The jobs list does need more love though, I've been wanting to do
this for a while but didn't get around to it.

Re: [activities] Server's back up

There was nothing wrong with the PSU, actually. Just a myth.

We have some dma interrupts on hda, but no badblocks.. hrm. All the
RAID arrays are fully sync'ed up again across both disks (including
the one with dma interrupts)

Sounds like an excellent idea. Although I now live in North America I'm
back in Brisbane every September so I should be present for every Software
Freedom Day :)

This sounds pretty awesome, if we could get something like a bench/
booth we could
even put up some demo machines.

Wonder what'd take (permission et all) to do this kinda thing..
