This Week In The WUGLUG

Hi all!

The following events are planned for this week:
 - Wednesday: WUGLUG PUBGLUG, in the Phantom Coach though, as ever, a
              group of us will be meeting just outside the Learning Grid
              to wander down there together.
 - Friday: XING Is Not Gaming. We will be meeting in the lobby of the
              Department of Computer Science at 8pm on Friday evening,
              for our weekly evening of coding, hacking and desperately
              trying to avoid breaking any servers. There is likely to
              be further work on the new servers, as well as the WUGLUG
              LiveCD. This week will also coincide with the return of
              gaming, also in DCS, so it promises to be a lot of fun.

There may well also be a QING (QING Is Not Gaming) on Saturday evening,
depending on people's interest toward the end of the week. There will
not be (planned) gaming running alongside.

The new organising committee has been elected, it being:
 - Secretary: Brad Smith (Brad)
 - Advocacy Officer: Tim Monks (monk)
 - Projects Office: Chris Lamb (lamby)

As such, this is the last newsletter you will be receiving from me (and
perhaps the first...) as Brad will be taking up his responsibility from
next week.

I hope to see you over the next week!

Dan

Further to this, I should note that there is a pre-gaming/XING social
starting at 7pm in The (Rootes Social) Bar immediately after the
Techteam meeting, which starts at 6pm in Meeting Room 6 in Union North.
 The Techteam deals almost exclusively with GNU/Linux administration, so
if you're interested in helping out it is certainly worth showing up.

Week 3 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to week 3!

This week the following events are planned for WUGLUG:
* Wednesday (7:00pm-11:00pm)
        WUGLUG PUBGLUG, in the Phantom Coach, group of people will be
        meeting outside learning grid to walk down.

There will not be a techteam meeting this week due to people needing set
up for the LAN. XING/QING will not be in DCS, again due to the LAN, but
there is the possibility to run a XING/QING alongside the LAN, depending
on how people feel, and whether they can tear themselves away from
warcraft III.

There are also the following events planned for compsoc as a whole:
* Monday (7:30pm-11:00pm)
        Pub Social, in The City Arms, Earlsdon.
* Friday-Sunday (8:00pm-8:00pm)
        The LAN!

LAN

Hey y'all

just wondering what wuglug people were planning on doing at the LAN
(assuming there is non-warcraft3 crazy map time). Ideas:

* Installfest
* Finish some projects that have been started in the last year.
* Website
* Techteam stuff

Re: LAN

The idea is to help people install Linux on their machines. I'm just
listing it as something that has been done in the past. I'm not even
sure its relevant anymore for many distros.

VServer tutorial

Hi Wuglug,

Would anyone in the vserver team be up to giving a shortish talk about
Vservers and how to set them up, perhaps with respect to the
configuration for CompSoc? Would be neat. :]

Fw: Software Freedom Day

Wuglug,

(I'm not sure where I will be on the 15th September. Presumably a few
people will have already moved into new properties on the 1st.)
