Re: Code Review & SysAdmin of Election 2010 Computers

according to comelec, there is a backup plan in case transmission thru
cell carriers is not possible (jammed signals including). but they
will not divulge what this backup plan is.

maybe, these jamming operators want to lure comelec into going to the
backup plan so that necessary dagdag-bawas can happen in the backup
plan.

Hi,

These jamming devices only works for wireless protocols (eg. GSM GPRS). Comelec have the option to use
kawasaki protocol to transport signed data to the next level :->

They work at a the protocol level?  And not through signal disruption?  Interesting.

I am not sure though how the jammers can be used for cheating.  What they can do is to disrupt and delay the counting.

For the moment, I think the best way to cheat would be to do it at the lower level of the process.  That is, to install a hacked firmware that will display the results that you want during counting time.  And when no one is looking revert the firmware to the authentic one and then stuff the machines with the ballots that would reflect the outcome if it is audited.  This can not be done on a wide scale.  But this scenario can be applied on a provincial level.  The cheater just needs to have full control of the territory to do the deed.  Another Maguindanao, perhaps?  BTW, this scenario can only play out with some support from Comelec and Smartmatic.

Any other ideas?

Re: Code Review

Hello Holden,

One possible way of using the jammers for cheating is to trigger
comelec to use "back up" plan and do cheating while in "back up" plan
mode.

again, we dont know what this backup plan is.
