Re: Free from Microsoft.......!!!!!!! Mouse Mischief

Ah, maybe I'm missing something. We've become a MUG now?

Preparing for the AGM

Guys,

The AGM should be held in October. How about we set up a September meeting and announce the date & location for the AGM?

Re: Preparing for the AGM

Hi,

Apologies, but I will not be in Malta for the September meeting. However, I will make it a point to attend the AGM. I am free most of October except for the 23rd of October, but I had already added Saturday 16th October on my calendar for some reason. Shall we do the AGM on the 16th ?

exfinister

Hi mluggers,
it gives me great pleasure to present to the World a new word (and derivatives) dedicated to an ever increasing activity : the act of removing windows. I mean, people are installing aluminium windows where there were once were rotting wooden ones, PVC windows instead of rusting wrought iron windows etc. It is of interest to note that a product bearing the name 'Windows' is sometimes the focus of the MLUG's attention so I thought that the word (and derivatives) could be used in that context if/when that activity occurs.

It would be great if Mr. Casha could apply his linguistic skills and see if he can adapt this to the Maltese language close to this launch.

Cheers

Andrew

Re: exfinister

Hi Andrew,

If I remember correctly, a long time ago you have proposed a similar word, "defenestration" - am I correct, was that you?

In any case, exfinister is better than defenester, as defenestration is the act of throwing someone out of a window: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defenestration (and it's also the name of a heavy metal band). On the other hand, exfinister is unused!
