IBM Laptops (thinkpad laptops) are mostly, if not totally compatible with 
linux..however you wont find them cheap...I can check for you what you can get 
for Lm500 if u want since the company I work with gets these laptops

CD1 of FC6 64 Bit needs fixing

Hi all,
    just for your info, the first CD of the 64 bit FC6 on the MLUG mirror is 
wonky. Took me some time to find out because the iso image mounts correctly 
so problem is not immediately apparent. A cool trick to fix this up is as 
follows:

1. Get all the cds from mlug mirror
2. start getting the same set of cds from a torrent
3. Stop the torrent client
4. Copy over the files downloaded in step (1) to the directory where you're 
downloading the torrent
5. Using the 'verify' function (or something similar), get the torrent client 
to accept the images downloaded from Mlug (I am using ktorrent and it does 
this happily)
6. torrent client will happily patch the first CD

In this way, you get the speed of the local backbone to get the bulk of the 
data and can patch with a bit torrent.
