I guess one of the purpose of this list is to popularize opensource tools to
the public. The above defeats this purpose.

[Tip] Get a brief overview of how many files and directories are installed

Get a brief overview of how many files and directories are installed

    $ locate -S

This locate command is provided through the mlocate package, installed by
default on most GNU/Linux distributions.

The output is self-explanatory- it provides an overview of how many
directories and files are on your system.
Ex:

 shrini <at> arul-desktop:~$  locate -S
Database /var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db:
    33,159 directories
    3,72,258 files
    2,23,63,372 bytes in file names
    87,22,893 bytes used to store database

I checked in ilugc wiki, I think don't have privilege to create the new
page, I don't see any option to start new page in my login.

We need a page in wiki to compile the links. Whoever manage this wiki, if
they could help us with the requirement it would be great.
