That's because I wasn't there with my laptop. I think I have finally
mastered getting it to work with projectors.

"Configuring X.org for transient external sources" subtitled "I'd

Looking for old ISO's

Hi All,

I am looking for some old Debian ISO's. I am looking for Debian testing (sarge) from on or around Jan. 5, 2006
and May 13, 2006. Any ideas on where I can locate such things?

TIA,
Kenny

Debian Sarge was stable in June of 2005. Do you mean you're looking for
Etch/Testing CDs from Last January and June? Those might be harder to find
unless someone downloaded them and saved them - I know I didn't.

If you're looking for the Sarge ISOs from those dates, they should still be on
the download servers. The latest Sarge in January '06 was 3.1R1 and the by
May Sarge 3.1R2 had been released. See the official mirror:

I think it boils down to my laptop quirks
a VGA connector that requires some slight upward pressure to
        work
start X when the VGA connector is working

The console window always outputs to the external monitor. I can use
ctrl-alt-F1 to get a console window and just jiggle the connector until
I get the console window to display. Then logoff/logon the X window
session to get X to display through the external VGA connector.

I'm curious why you need the ISOs, can you just do with a few .debs ?

In that pursuit, I cannot help then. I didn't start playing with Etch until
October sometime. Good luck.

I wish it were that easy... I created a custom installer a year ago based on the (at that time) current etch
(completely against my wishes. I wanted to just use LFS). Everything that was built on that requires very
specific versions of things. I maintained the ISO's and repo for a while, but then it was taken over by
someone else. It has recently come to light that my instructions for building the installer weren't being
followed, and as a result, the installer no longer works. I need extremely specific versions of installer
packages (udebs), and a specific tool chain, as well as specific versions of many packages that aren't
available anymore. And, of course, my original CD's have been mis-placed, and the repo that I no longer
maintain is apparently missing things because... Well, that is a much longer story....
