Looking for adjunct instructors

Hi all,

I posted something like this a while back, but we're looking again.
To restate, I am an instructor at ITT Technical Institute (Where CPLUG
meetings are held!) (I'm the one that brought the students to the
meeting ;) We are looking for computer networking instructors, not
just for Linux. For more information and to apply, go here
https://careers-itt-tech.icims.com/jobs/7704/job

Thanks!
Amy

your chosen Android topics

Thanks to all who responded to the survey!

There is high interest in ROMs, software development, and automation,
and practically no interest in backups. (Ironically, backups are a
required component of messing with ROMs, unless you like losing all your
local files and settings. :) )

It looks like the winning topic is ROMs by a slim margin, so I'll plan a
talk on ROMs. I could follow up with talks on software development and
automation at later meetings, unless someone else is interested in
presenting these topics.

Humble Bundle

The Humble Bundle is once again at it, and if you're a Linux user, you
should at least consider contributing. Their site explains it all, at
http://www.humblebundle.com

Basically, they provide some games (this time for Android and Linux, but
also includes Mac and Windows) and then you choose how much you want to
pay for them, where you want the money to go, and everyone wins. You get
the games, they get the money, and however much you chose goes to
charity. They do track how many users want to be counted as Linux users,
so make sure that if you do this, you check the appropriate box.

I think it's a great deal, a great way to raise charity money, and a
great way to show that there are Linux users out there who are willing
to pay for gaming to come to our platform of choice.

If you do buy the bundle, you'll get the software for all 4 platforms,
you don't have to choose which. And if you're a Steam user, yes, you get
Steam keys so that you can keep all your games in one place.

Cheers,
Chris

Dell Inspiron 1501

Got this Dell Inspiron 1501 AMD AthlonX2 with broadcom 4311 WiFi.  If I install the Broadcom driver in Xubuntu 11.10, it can't see the Wifi.  Shows up  under lspci, but not iwconfig.  Tried the routine at this blog: ubuntumini and either did it wrong or it doesn't work.  Is there a way to straighten this out?

mcollective || orchestration

I'd be interested in someone doing a talk on mcollective or
orchestration in general.

I'd actually even volunteer to do an intro talk on it if no one else
is using it, but I'd prefer an expert give the talk as I'd like to
learn something.

Barring that I would even like a semi-intelligent discussion on the
list here about mcollective or orchestration in general..

Android user count?

Are there enough Android users in CPLUG to sustain interest for
Android-related talks? Development, automation, ROMs, etc?

Dual Boot Questions

Want to dual boot XP PRO and Xubuntu (unity is mind numbing).  Have a couple of questions.

1)  Better to install windows first?

2)  Would I be better off running windows as a VM?

3)  Is it feasible to install Thunderbird in both systems and point both instances to a common profile?

4)  Is there a simple setup for caldav so I can synch my android tablet with Thunderbird/Lightning using bluetooth?
