Checking installations SHA512sum

Greetings,

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on my machine.
I have added the output of /usr/bin/SHA512sum to this email because I
do NOT trust
this update process. The dpkg/aptitude/deb system is very confusing
and not detailed
like RPM.
Is there any equivalent to "rpm -Kv package" ?
There seems to be no equivalent to "rpm -Vv package (not rpm file)".

Please look out a your own system and compare the attached files.
I noticed the DVD I got from this book did NOT have virtviewer for qemu/xen.
I noticed the Fedora 15 DVD was ONLY 3.4 Gigabytes.
I tried buying a Fedora 15 DVD but it had the same corruption...

Sincerely,

JC Magras

Re: Meeting Reminder!

If anyone will like to see an old presentation that I believe Jim
Westbrook and others put together. I'll have it at tomorrows meeting.
It is called Linux Means Business. It's old and the apps / version
numbers will need to be updated if we want to use this again.

FREE WIFI - bring your laptop - tablet - whatever - FREE WIFI

Food - Beer - Tea (free refills) - coffee
use of the HDTV to connect device up to for presentations
On the Capital Metro Bus Route
Close to 38 1/2 and IH 35 - a little bit past the Subway

I'll have it available at the meeting tomorrow night if anyone wants
to download it

Meeting Reminder

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone to join us at Cherrywood coffeehouse
Thursday evening for another great Linux meeting! Thursday's topic is
"General Linux/GNU discussion" so please feel free to come with any
questions, comments, concerns, etc. for Linux and open source!

I plan on getting to the coffeehouse around 6:30 to grab a quick bite
to eat and get at least one table for us. I'll also have a surge
strip, power extension cable and HDMI cable so if anyone needs power
or will need/want to give a presentation of any kind feel free!

As always, my inbox is always open so feel free to drop me an email if
you need! See you Thursday!

Thank you,

Job posting list?

Hello friends:

Do you have a separate list for job postings?  My company has some openings for senior Linux administrators but I wanted to make sure it was ok with you all first before posting the link on this mailing list  If you have a separate list for this sort of thing please let me know.  Or if it's ok to post the occasional job opening (maybe once every 3-4 months) I'll post it here.

Best regards,

Sean Carolan

Re: Job posting list?

Hi Sean,

Glad to hear you have open positions!

We do not have a separate mailing list for job postings but you can
feel free to post your openings to the alg list. We also have a
technical list you can post to as not all members subscribe to both
lists. You can sign onto that list at:
http://austinlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo

Thank you,

Disregard: Can someone send me a copy of this file?

I finally found a copy after digging and digging. MySQL still doesn't
seem to like to play well during the install process as per libraries
under standard configuration of CentOS here. Maybe I just need to add
more repositories to give it a shove

Re: Can someone send me a copy of this file?

One way to do this would be to copy the rpm file into a temporary
directory and use rpm2cpio and cpio to extract it's contents.

$ rpm2cpio ./mysql-5.0.77-4.el5_5.4.i386.rpm | cpio -idv
